1. Whether or not sexual deviations and dispositions are a choice or not, is up for debate.
2. Not conceding that said disposition is determined at birth =/= gay bashing/homophobia.

Forcing yourself to ignore your urges=/=getting rid of them. It's kind of like an alcoholic. They can't ever "cure" their alcoholism, but they can suppress the urge to drink and struggle to maintain their sobriety. But at the end of the day, he/she will always be an alcoholic.
