But... Why? What could you do with a bow that you couldn't do ten times better with a gun?

  • Put an arrow through the knee.... guns can't do that

  • Bows have more options than gun. Like fire and exploding arrows.

  • Void, Solar, Arc damage.

  • Had a gun that had a flame fore the damage and it didn't do much to help. Basicly your elementals are in your gernades the guns shoot regular ammunition.

  • Not true, I am not sure you understand how the element feature works in the game, it's a little strange. as for the start of the game it's not something used a lot. I don't know how much more it will be used in later of the game. Element damage was use against Captains (shields weak to arc damage) and Wizards (shield weak to solar damage).

  • Used a gun with an element and it did the same amount or damage to captains and wizards. Just did extra damage compare to normal ammo. Otherwise no difference.

  • You have to look at the damage number that pops ups when a bullet hits your enemy to know what im talking about. Every time your bullet hits an enemy a number pops up to show the damage dealt. You follow. Every time i shot a wizard or captain in the head the damage was a little over 2300 but it didn't go over or under that amount on them both. I paid attention when looking for the best guns. Also perks can change the damage too. There are issues in the game that they'll address like that lag in damage that occurs sometimes in crucible.

  • The elements on the weapons work against enemy shields. Fallen captains, with blue shields, are weak to arc. Hive Wizards, with red-orange shields, are weak to solar.

  • Not much but I like the idea it would be a fun weapon. The only weapon I was using for fun was the Fusion Rifle. The Bow could be a type of Fusion Rifle it would have to charge and it would hit hard just not as many shots as the Fusion Rifle. But I totally disagree about being stealth idea I have no idea why anyone wants that in a game like Destiny.

  • There are endless possibilities with bows, like blast arrows as ammunition, poison arrows, heat seeking arrows (like the crossbow in that one G I Joe movie), bows that shoot pure energy, bows that fire cryogenic arrows that slow movement, bows that shoot ultra bright flares, you just need a little creativity.

  • Stealth works just fine in fallout, and they don't have bows. All I'm saying is that technology moves forwards. Bows got left behind centuries ago, and this game takes place centuries from now.

  • And yet without bows.. we wouldnt have guns. Bows are quite high tech these days.

  • We have guns... And yet people still use bows. And really? you brought up fallout, this is destiny man/woman.

  • I brought up fallout because you brought up stealth. I was making a comparison. I in no way want Destiny to be like fallout, which is one reason I argue against all the "better stealth" people (and I play fallout and skyrim as a stealth character). As for bows, the only people who use them are sport hunters. Just like the only people who still use swords are doing it as a sport (fencing, kendo, etc.). But they have been completely phased out of every military and police force I've seen. If you can point me to a modern military that still uses bows, I will happily concede this argument.

  • Agree with the stealth thing. Woukd like bows but I think it would need a good stealth mechanic to make them properly viable. Could make it a heavy weapon with explosive arrows or something as there are only 2 heavy weapons weve seen

  • She sucked! She gets her hands on a bow and a Legolas (unit of measurement for a -blam!-tonne of arrows) of arrows. She proves herself as epic with her chosen weapon constantly until the game itself... Then doesn't drop the sucka's with the melee weapons left and right. Also, bows are always missrepresented as a powerful one hit kill weapon, when the opposite is true. It plugs the whole it makes very well, if you add almost anything to the head the effective range becomes that of a throwing knife, and ammo is big so you can't carry as much of it. Bows, cool as they obviously are, kinda suck.

As an archer and a hunter, a well aimed shot to the heart, lungs, throat, liver, or eye will put down any animal and in all fairness, a human too. Also, a broadhead is most often made with lightweight metals, and trust me, they do NOT plug their own holes. The broadhead puts a dollar-coin sized hole in the target and keeps going through the flesh. The thinner shaft of the arrow won't stop the bleeding. Also, most quivers these days can hold 40+ arrows. But bows are very undependable at close range and a cut string is irreparable. Plus, no bow is completely silent. You can come really close, but you will always hear a bow being fired.

  • Lol, unfortunately it's only correct with reference to arrows. But if you can shoehorn it in elsewhere you let me know!
