Its because its a role playing game your guardian does not have to to be a spitting image of you maybe people like the smaller build because the want a ninja character
Others because the just want too why do males choose a male character do you like looking at a man constantly? I don't that's why I choose a female they are more appealing to me and my play style. And I don't think people should be called names based upon there play style. Rant over

Honestly it all comes down to what you prefer to look at while you play. Maybe the Awoken female has a better run to you. Maybe the Exo Male is the robot-stud that a girl dreams about. When you play an RPG your character DOES NOT need to be you and people forget this all the time. I've decided not to play a female character in Destiny (mainly because I'm a Titan and want to be as big and bulky looking as possible) but I have before in WoW, Rift and other games. In a game like this where you're going to be investing hours of time into how your character looks and feels you need to make sure that the base character you're starting off with is something you enjoy looking at, whether that's a male or female character. It literally has NOTHING to do with your actual gender, preferences or sexual orientation. Come on guys, grow up.

I like looking at her hips when shes on the tower and her voice. Boom end of story. I honestly don't see why its a big deal so long as your not trying to seduce people. lol
-
Boobs...
-
Well in a few games the females have smaller hit boxes
-
Dat grass
-
Dat ass
-
well its a fps so you don't really get to see your person much, but I don't care what you play as, im a guy I play as a guy bc its easier to put my self in the story
-
Why is this a problem? I personally like my character to look like me but who gives a damn about how other people play a game?
-
».» dat ass! That's why!
-
I just find it hard to care about a male character. If he dies it's just one less d**k swinging around. A girl dies and it's a tragedy. I mean people are still upset Aris/Arith died in FF7, no one gives a damn if Tidus from FF10 goes away. That and if given a chance I would rather be staring at a girl's butt than a guy's.

Because I like women. Especially badass ones.

This better expresses my view of things. Via user: TheBlackJELLo.

The reason i dont play a female. "Become legend" My memories, my heart and soul, blood and sweat "Metaphorically" Going into one character...ill play a female hunter but my legend Warlock. Male. I want the memories to be as real as possible. Not RPG real.

Butts and boobs. Why else
-
wow an OP on the topic of male and female characters in video games that actually gets it. 10/10
-
Go back to masturbating to pokemon
-
Hah! I choose a male character because practically all video game protagonists are male! You like staring at virtual ass, good for you ya lonely bastards!
-
Because when your in the tower you don't have to watch a mans ass.

I played as a female Titan during the Beta. There is nothing wrong with it. In a gaming world where the vast majority of protagonists in video games are males, I thoroughly enjoy the notion of being able to play as a female character whenever the option is present and it truly broadens my sense of gaming equality. Being able to appreciate female video game characters gives me a better perspective of women in general. I have several female gaming friends in my friends list and a beautiful girlfriend. I have a huge amount of respect for them all. They [gaming women] put up with a lot from immature male gamers who constantly harass them. Moreover, if I hadn't played a female soldier in Mass Effect, I probably would have missed out on Jennifer Hale's exceptional voice acting and that would have been the greatest of shames upon me.

They have better armor and look better in armor
-
My friends's reason(who is a guy): Why look at a guy's butt all day, when you can look at a GIRL'S BUTT!!!!
immature, I know
Some people like to create characters, some people like to create digital representations of themselves. I choose the gender of my character depending on what fits the character I'm building. I never make myself in games. If you're going to play a game that transports you to a fantastical world, why would you wanna be yourself? Gender is simply another means of distancing yourself from your character, if that's how you like to create characters.
-
True but if you ask me...I'll play as a girl for somthing different. I will start with a male Titan and then a female warlock

Edited by Im1 MentalNinja: 8/27/2014 1:41:23 AMOr people choose whatever they want because it's an option in the game to choose.
-
Agreed. All my friends call me gay, or say im a wanna be girl. And i say this to them every time. Then they realize that they sound WAY more attracted to men than they originally intended it to sound for me. Finally someone else that agrees.

When I play RPGs I like to imagine my actions as the avatars story unfolding like a regular game. I also don't see any good female leads very often. So I like to make a female character when I play RPGs so I can have the pleasure of enjoying an awesome story with a good female lead. I like to play as male characters too but sometimes having a fem protagonist is just so much more fun. Case in point, fem Shep.
