The Primary weapons are all multi-use and simply a matter of preference, however if you see a Titan using a Sniper and a Hunter (Gunslinger subclass) using a Shotty then those two should switch due to their base stats as the Hunter isn't exactly able to take as much damage as the Titan. They should not be forced to, but it is the more effective strategy.
