So, I cant get Destiny out of my head and as I was watching some videos about raids a question came to mind about how difficult will the normal raid be compared to the Hardmode version?
My thought on this is based on a few things...
-Other games with normal and hardmode raids.
-The announcement that raids get progressively harder
-The level cap of 30
Normal Raid
Normal raids are said to "become harder" which to me means an increase in level requirements to be able to hit the next boss. Assuming 8 bosses (just a guess not confirmed) and as stated by an IGN interview the raid starts at 25 I see the boss requirements going like this...
Boss 1 and 2 level 25
Boss 2, 3 and 4 level 26
Boss 4, 5 and 6 level 27
Boss 7 and 8 level 28
I don't think the normal raid will require level 29-30 to do it but I do think it will get you gear to get to level 30.
The reason for these picks are really guesses but I would think that when you 1st step into a raid Bungie will want you to experience the 1st couple of bosses right away. I don't imaging you spending more than 45 minutes on the 1st boss, assuming you don't have a shit group. The 2nd boss will prob be about 35-40 mins, the reason I dont think it will take as long as the 1st boss is bc your group will be more comfortable with each other and you will have more of a understanding about how the raiding system works.
Now for the other bosses I dont know how easy it will be for you to get higher levels but I do think you will be able to kill every boss in the normal raid in week one, with a good dedicated group willing to spend about 6 hours in the raid. By week 2 you will start to see the top groups starting hardmodes but your average groups will be starting to clear up the last few bosses that gave them troubles in week 1.
Hardmode Raid
For the hardmodes I bet that you will need to be level 30 to even have a chance at killing the 1st boss. This is the ultimate challenge that your group will encounter. My guess is the bosses may even level up to 32 this will make you have a chance to miss or to just to make your damage much lower. Hardmode bosses will gain additional abilities and require a certain set up of guardians.
Things both need
I have a feeling that for normal and hardmode raids are going to require at least one Defender Titans. This is because I think that a few of the bosses throughout the raids will have a global ability that will one shot anyone not protected by a titans defensive super.
Another ability that i believe bosses will have is shared damage abilities....meaning it will target one person and hit them for a large amount of damage but can be decreased by having other guardians share the damage. This will require team members to be aware of animations and react quickly to group up and save that targeted member.
Resurrecting
If they allow people to be resurrected in raids I would imaging they put a cap (lets say 2) on how many times someone can be resed per fight...ie person 1 dies and gets resed then person 2 dies and gets resed that is your 2 reses your raid will get for that fight or until you wipe and pull it again.
What I think will be more likely... no one can res except for sunsinger's res ability that only reses them if they die, which if there is a res cap this wont count against this cap.
Why dont I think we will be able to resurrect people? Well with how much Bungie has hammered teamwork and the difficulty of raids into us I dont think they want you to be able to res people that make these mistakes.
Last thought on resurrecting you might be able to res in normal but not in hardmode
I know it was long but if you got to this point thank you for reading all of it. Please comment if you think I am wrong on anything or just post your thoughts that you have had about Destiny Raids.
Thank you,
Beastmasonn

How Easy Will It Be to Get Loot? This is a question that keeps coming up and instead of having it be a side thought I am going to put some of my thoughts about it. Getting geared is possibly even more unknown than the difficulty of the raids. Yet getting gear is the basis on how hard the raid will be. I am guilty of assuming gear for raids wont be very hard to get and here is my reasoning behind this... We need to think about gear in a few different ways. 1. Blue vs Purple vs Yellow? ----- a. Blue vs Purples... Blue gear gets 3 upgradable stats and Purples get 4 (not sure about the armor difference let me know if you have pictures)... We haven't seen any blue gear with Light so purples may be the only items with light... When you hit 20 you will probably have all blues with 1 or 2 purples that are lower level (so no light right when you hit 20)... -----b. Purples vs Yellow...Using Helms as the example Armor: purples 280 yellow 311... Light: purple 18 yellow 21... Stats: (dis, int, str) most items have 2 of these the difference comes with how stat boost you get purples total around 55-65 total where yellows can have up to 110-120 total... Purples have 4 upgradable stats and Yellows have 5 (5th stat may be an additional perk)... -----c. Yellow vs Yellow... While doing this I was looking closer at yellows and when looking at most helms they had 311 armor and 21 light but the helm from that level 29 titan we have all seen it has 390 armor and 27 light... After noticing this that leads me to think that hardmode bosses may start at level 29 and go to 31-32... 2. Where can you get this gear? -----Blue...Random world drops... Cryptarch...Vendors...Quest rewards -----Purple...Strike and normal raid boss drops?... Cryptarch... Faction Venders, high end quest rewards -----Yellow... Normal Raid boss drops... Using coins to buy from black market vender...after maxing our cryptarch/finishing quest campaign??... -----Best Yellow... Back half of the normal raid and Hardmode only yellows?? 3. How hard is it to get one of each of the colors? -----Blue...Common -----Purple...Rare -----Yellow...Good luck...or about a month if using Coins I know I missed something I had to leave so I wasnt able to finish some of the things I wanted to... let me know what I missed or any additional info that you want to add.

1 ReplyThe most important thing for me is the geniune five minutes of having absolutely no idea what needs to be done. Then talking it out and trying something new.

4 Replieslets just hope bungie isn't over hyping these raids. I think a good example for raids are strikes, but allot harder.

1 ReplyThis is well put together statement, it is give me some ideas for my raid crew. I guess we well have to work as 3 members perfectly before we can add two raid groups together. If raids will be some what similar to what u stated then, I will have to put many hours into know my raids groups weakness / strength. Two leaders for group of 6players will make raid coordination simple.

2 RepliesI will say honestly that I find it a tad ridiculous that there isnt a raid finding system. There are so many elements of this game being an RPG, no mater if this is a shooter or not, and looking at many RPGs with raiding systems, a raid finding system is a MUST in the industry. If anything, introduce a raid matchmaking system, but make the rewards a little less valuable than normal raids. Just like WoW and other games like this have them.

7 RepliesEdited by Amusekus: 8/23/2014 11:59:53 AMI get what you are saying about the revives and I don't agree with it, it all depends how they do the encounters though. In strikes if you die you get a countdown to be able to come back if nobody revives you. I bet you that feature will be disabled forcing players to go into danger to revive their teammates. It is not like other games where you can stand in a safe corner and cast a resurrection spell. If a person dies means most likely that spot is dangerous, and you have to go there revive them. So reviving people can be a risk, so I think there will be no limit on reviving.

4 RepliesEdited by Amusekus: 8/23/2014 4:10:32 AMI disagree with the levels numbers because of the statement that they think some groups would beat normal mode the first week. But the hard mode of the raid will be another story. Don't want to try to search for link, believe it was eurogamer. If what I read is correct it would more like the raid is level 25 to level 27. Then hard mode would go from 27 to 30. That is how I see it anyway. We'll see when we get there.

23 RepliesI stopped after something to do with time. My question is how long do u expect a raid to do? Its not gonna be a 3day event where u guys can take breaks mid-raid. Unless ive missed some info. I honestly dont see raids lasting over 2-3hours tops.

23 RepliesI got the impression that you think you will be clearing raid on first or second day of try and that you think you can defeat first boss in 45 minutes the first time you try, is that right? Cuz that's just bullshit =D Be ready for loooong days of just training with your static group

13 RepliesEdited by Meatonyourbuns: 8/23/2014 12:00:24 AMI imagine support classes will end up making up a majority of the typical raid teams. Bosses simply won't be much bothered by offensive supers no matter the level.
