This makes me think that maybe the Fallen are actually some kind of Evolution of Wolves, maybe the Travler did something to them cause them to become humanoid creatures, anyone else think its possible?
A bit off topic, there are a few dark souls referances aswell, Heart of the praxic fire ("In the last moment she seemed wholly luminescent as the sun, and I wished to be so brave" has some ties to knight solaire, however the intresting part is "she", im assuming this is the female hunter who tries to guide us ingame?), and a hunter helmet acolytes something is a small referance to the sunlight maggot of dark souls. Helm of inmost light ("The light shines brightest in those it consumes" sunlight maggot referance) and helm of saint 14 ("He walked out into the demon light, but at the end he was brighter" Knight Solaire's journey through dark souls seeking his sun) also have similar sunlight covenant quotes.
Another referance is that the guardians are the dead, same as the hollows of dark souls. A good quote is "chosen undead" from dark souls, you are chosen by your ghost in destiny and are of course undead.
So going with the dark souls theme, Sif, a wolf guarded the key to the abyss (Darkness?). So my theory is that a wolf will be linked with access to the darkness in some sort of way (some sort of seal or gateway?).
Sorry for the long post I'll post that hunter helm below
