Probably something like the Events you see in Warframe that last a weekend.
(You play the event, get kills/objective to get points to total up to assorted rewards.)

Well, in retrospect we even had an event that lasted a week, and one that lasted the better part of a month. I can only say with certainty that the probability of a 2 hour event is very unlikely as it's very unfair to certain timezones no matter what time you set it PST.
