Around the 11 minute mark the interviewer comments on how they aren't normally a PvP player but they found themselves drawn into it because of the way it's tied in to the rest of the game.
Deej responds with (paraphrasing) how they wanted players to explore different aspects of the game they maybe wouldn't otherwise...
I wouldn't be shocked if this wasn't part of a big plan to get PvE players involved in PvP without being overwhelmed and possibly turned off by the truly "competitive" PvP right away and to get the PvP players to at least try the PvE more, before they ultimately add the more competitive stuff.

The problem is there aren't pvp specific weapons and such. So if you want to get good at pvp you gotta play the pve...

well All the Trophy hunters will be Forced into PvP based on the 5 or more Multiplayer trophies I saw. In fact they should even raise the 100 kills per Guardian class to around 250 each.
