Why do people say a damage buff will make HC a 2 headshot kill? It. already. was. Did you guys just not play with HC in the beta and decided to act like experts on it? I actually tested the gun. Quick analysis.
2 headshots = kill (only Titans lived with a splinter of health sometimes)
5-6 bodyshots = kill
1 headshot = over 2 bodyshots worth of damage, somewhere between 2.5 - 3x
What made the HCs so weak was the penalty for not getting headshots. During a firefight, landing a 2nd headshot for the kill while your target is jumping around and shooting you with an AR was just too difficult. Even if you landed a headshot to open the fight, you still need about 3 bodyshots to net a kill. The HC fires slow because of the skill and time it takes to recover from the kick and having to shoot someone 3-4 times, including at least 1 headshot, is really asking too much of a primary weapon. The bodyshots need to count for more. The formula for a kill, when including 1 headshot, should be 2-3 hits. I know, it sounds OP as -blam!-, but you have to understand that the amount of time it takes to recover from a shot due to the kick really puts this weapon at a disadvantage.

Edited by David Dunn: 8/16/2014 6:39:04 PMLet me interject real quick. I did test the Hand Cannon. The base player health was somewhere right above 150 in normal crucible. With minor exeptions. The most powerful HC dealt 75 damage on a headshot and 50 center-mass. If you found a slightly scuffed enemy, or a player who just created their character and thus lacked armor (stat-wise) you could achieve a kill with two to the head. Or three to the body. But as you might imagine this is not the case in the majority of cases. Also the amount of new players per veteran will quickly diminish as the game is released. The beta only lasted days, as you pointed out. This is why it is generally seen as slightly south of the border. The border that most of us want it to be way north of. (I hope that picture makes sense).

Oh I'm not doubting the necessity of the buff, I just don't think headshot damage has anything to do with it's current sad state. Also the impact stat will make a difference in the test as well as levels of toughness in character stats. It sounds like my handcannon may have had a little more impact than yours, but I know mine did not have the most one could, I chose to play with it cause of it's range and handling balance. It was probably 90% or so of impact that the highest HCs I found. Even with that high of damage, it generally took 4+ rounds of bodyshots. I found the headshot damage was nearly 3x the body shot damage, but you are saying it was only 1.5x the damage. I wish I had spent more time testing it. Oh well, it will feel better when the game releases, that's a step in the right direction.

What was it called?

Edited by MetalGeist: 8/16/2014 7:26:11 PMI want to say a green bandit MK that I think I upgraded to a green Researcher (or searcher).

Alright. The bandit was the one with the higher RoF, the Searcher is the high damage output. And from what I can tell, all colors of Seacher, for instance, have the same impact / RoF / etc.
