What is the best gaming headset for PS4 and Xbox 1?

I'm looking to purchase a new gaming headset to use during Fireteam/Crucible matches. If they make or will be releasing one soon that works for both platforms simultaneously that would be optimal. However, I am not opposed to buying separate headsets for each platform but I will definitely be purchasing one for my PS4 first. I would appreciate any personal reviews you have about your favorite headset (positive AND negative) and why you do OR do not like them. I've read a few articles about Turtle Beach releasing their Elite 800 and Ear Force 500X for PS4 & XB1, respectively, due out in mid October. Thanks for your help.

I'm in the same situation mate, i want a new headset for Destiny, preferably before sep9. I think i'm going to go for the Astro a50's, they work on both xbone and ps4 wirelessly with full 7.1 Dolby digital surround sound, admittedly you need a chat cable and xbone adapter to to get the chat function on xbone but that's not a problem. Apart from that all the research iv done seems to prove The Astro a50's are a great headset for gaming.

      • There's actually a bunch of the Turtle Beach headsets that will run on both platforms. They would require that daft adapter & the talkback cable on the XBone, sadly. I've been eying up the PX51's myself, but there's plenty of options to be had. No personal experience with Astro, as I've been rocking a set of TB X11's for the past 3.5 years. I find the TB's to be super comfy with my glasses too. With the two new consoles in my arsenal, it's finally time to retire my old headset to PC use, and do an upgrade. See you on PS4 & One, in 3 weeks :)
