Why is Old Russia the only explorable location on Earth? The place is a mundane, rusty wasteland with hardly any striking landforms and/or buildings worth visiting. Not to mention repetitive side missions that get old fast. Skywatch? Only has one story within the building, why can't it be multi level and full of activities? I just don't understand why Old Russia was chosen and why it's the ONLY area on the entire freaking planet. You all know Deej was lying when he said "I still get lost in Old Russia." After 30 minutes of exploring I had the place memorized inside and out. This so called "open world" is really not delivering on its promises.

2 RepliesHaven't I seen this topic before? Bungie said why - russia is where humanity 1st started advancing into space....
-
Because it's original.

Edited by Ophialacria: 8/14/2014 5:19:03 AMBecause the US -blam!-ed up and dumped its space program. The second race to the moon was a cakewalk for Russia. I imagine that's why. Spaceships are pretty much entirely Russian made now.

7 Replies1. Old Russia is where your Ghost finds you and revives you. 2. That is where the story that Bungie is telling with Destiny BEGINS. 3. You can't even get from one end of the play space to the other in 30 minutes. Never mind explore it all and "have it memorized inside and out". I played the Beta for almost SIXTY HOURS...and was still stumbling on new things. So you are either trolling....or you didn't really bother to play the game.

2 RepliesThe Molyneux is strong in DeeJ.

1 ReplyThe moon seemed way cooler. And we only had a limited about of time, and I bet lots of areas were closed. I can't wait to go through the story and discover each planet as they come along.

Would have liked to slink through New York or Boston. We don't know everything though. More explore zones may become available.
-
3 RepliesOut of all the places in the world we could explore, they choose Russia.

better than American focus games

5 RepliesMore to the point is the traveller over russia?

11 RepliesI was really hoping for more areas to explore on earth. Broken down cities, forests..something! So much of the environments seem like different shades of brown, orange, and grey. Give me some green! I know the Beta didn't show us everything earth had to offer, but even if it did, I'm going to have a blast with this game.

3 RepliesEdited by KOCMOHABT123: 8/13/2014 6:33:31 AMBecause Russia is awesome? Enjoy the bloopers =)

3 RepliesI begged Bungie to remove the UK, particularly Ireland. Seeing the crumbling remains of the Guinness brewery would kill me.

8 RepliesWell, given that Russia was home to the space program of our global Golden Age society, I'd say its pretty fitting that we first explore that aspect of our past before reaching out to other worlds ourselves. Why did we choose Russia for our launch pad into the rest of our solar system? I don't know. We might find that out. What would you have chosen?
-
Because in Soviet Russia, the Motherland chose Bungie.
-
6 RepliesGee, you played the beta, you sure know everything about Destiny.
-
2 RepliesBecause why not Russia.
-
9 RepliesSeriously? asking? Reason for Old Russia was that it was the Launching point from earth to the rest of the solar system for colonization of the other planets. Bungie wanted to make that significance about the story. That's why there are 5 launch towers strung along Old Russia. Other than that, I don't know.. Bungie has also 'nodded' to several of the Russian Cosmonauts from the 1960s usually through the names of weapons and Gear.

1 ReplyEdited by XxMrHollywood: 8/13/2014 6:08:14 AMRumor is Russia is funding Destiny's development.
WARNING: The above statement was most likely unsubstantiated nonsense and is to be ignored for ones own safety
