The answer is simple, yes raid is hard, yes it takes planning and teamwork, but nowhere does it say you need to have a dedicated no life band of guardians willing to raid on whim. Bungie has stated many times that this game was created for the casual gamer first, yes there will be challenges, but Bungie has no plans to lock out the casual player base. Imagine logging in with three friends, looking for two ore and being set up in matchmaking, before the mission you can talk to each other and a sign roles, just like many people did between instances in WOW... Now you have the ability to just log in and be put with a group that needs you, and friends who have enough to fill the roster will work even better together. But the difficulty will stay the same, and eventually someone failing the mission 20 times will learn how to run it with a randomness team and perhaps even take on a leader role. Besides in destiny, there's not much distinction to lean on one class more than another for a.specific situation, such as best at AOE, someone to pull aggro, or a healer, etc. Everyone is just awesome and shoots stuff, using ults wisely and etc. So I don't see other than playing with a total deep would make a.mission any more easy than.playing with a bunch of well organized buddies. Easier yes, but impossible without, no. I also imagine they will be matching teams by skill level perhaps a ranking system, to help weed out those not as serious and match higher ranked players with others who they will most likely not have to carry. So in case you didn't hear before, Destiny is first and foremost a.casual game, you don't like it go back to WOW or etc.

  • If they really make raids as shitty as the ones you describe I'll agree that MM should be implemented, this game's PvE will be dead boring after at best 1 month and bungie will have failed. But it's seems hardly the case. They said you need a week for complete it. This means you need a week of constant training with a static. This means it's impossible to oneshot. Pro FPS team failed after 16h of try. It can't be something you join a MM with someone that never tried this and you win. Be sure of that It's true that many mechanics you usually see in WOW raids can't be ported in destiny but many others can. They may be able to create even new mechanics that are viable only on FPS. You can still have to share dmg, to activate platforms, to keep enemies apart, to not evade something, to shoot 6 target at same time, to follow a path, to hold on supers or grenades for specific times, environment hazards, enrage timers and those are only some example that came to my mind in few minutes. They want to bring RAIDS in a FPS so be ready for them. Hoping they fail and make just lazy content like borderland 2 did means hoping this game will fail

I don't see how I described a shitty raid, because a raid is a raid varying on difficulty and player skill, there can be easy raids for pros and equally be hard raids for newbs, maybe even seemingly impossible ones for newbs and severely challenging for pros. The point I was trying to make is when did LFG become so exclusive to just your friends. Hard raids in other games still allow matchmaking for when your looking for that one specific PC level or alt. In destiny I think we both agree there is a certain amount of skill involved, but as I said before not much of a difference whether I nab a titan or hunter for the job, just whether they've run the mission before, work well with a team, and are around the same rank/stat level. If the one guy wants to scrub out then put him on a no play list and search again. I just don't feel raids should be exclusive to a buddy system, because although I might have 10 friends playing the game, I only have 3-4 on the PS4 to join up with and that's if we can all gave the same day off, have babysitters for our kids, and etc. The biggest factor to this is that Destiny isn't PC, its multiple consoles! I don't mind having an elite factor if you want to strut around saying I completed this, maybe Bungie can have you set the raid to difficulty like easy or hard, like they do in the story mode, and depending on your setting you will unlock achievements or awards, even T1 gear that would have higher drop rates, whereas in a normal raid of the same mission, its extremely rare if not at all possible to get the same stuff. Maybe it's just me, but I personally don't like playing a game that I pay for and can't play because of real life interference, I should still be able to experience the game, maybe not unlock all the T1 stuff because I don't give it my life to be a god in destiny, but to those who want to step up their game crank the difficulty to 11, I say they deserve some sort of reward that's hard to get, but don't exile me because I HAVE to match make...

  • You didn't describe a raid, you described just a FPS lvl that make a challenge by lazily increase wave count and toughness. Could be a great FPS lvl but it's a shitty raid

  • I think the jury is still out on whether raids are an MMORPG exclusive, this is a shared world shooter and of course its going to be different or described differently at least

  • They want to bring raids on destiny. A raid you can tackle with FPS mentality (I go online when I go and play with whoever is online) and hope to defeat is not a raid. Raid are puzzle that require train to be solved. You won't need uber skills but you will need to take them on with the same party. Otherwise they are just strike missions
