As an Exo in destiny, this is how I think I think, if you know what I mean. It is my goal to challenge my fellow guardians, and try to be one of the best. That a large part of why I fight: competition. Also being a hunter, my detachment from society is matched only my my trust and companionship for my fellow guardians. I also fight to save all of the intellect that remains to be protected, in whatever form it comes in. I am fascinated by every mind and what it thinks, and they are all worth protecting. That is also why I fight. You must remember though that consciousness is not accompanied by deep affection of the caliber you described. Although powerful friendship can be achieved, the traveler would not have cursed exos with the ability to love organic life forms.

  • An admirable set of values, master Exo. You say " consciousness is not accompanied by deep affection of the caliber you described." I challenge this statement with a variant on itself. I would argue that consciousness is not NECESSARILY accompanied by deep affection of the caliber I described. There can be no guarantee that an Exo can or cannot feel this way. Just because you have not experienced it does not mean it cannot exist. I explore the potentiality of such an event. Were it to occur, I outline some of the challenges that might be faced. Your statement concerning the Traveler is also rife with assumption. How do you presume to know the thought process of the Traveler? Its moral code? If you see it as a benevolent God then I would argue that the God of the Christians would not have granted humanity with the ability to love machines. The existence of Objectophelia defines this as incorrect. Perhaps the ultimate kindness of the Traveler in its actions would be to remove all of the limitations on the Exo. Sentience with only situational free will after all, is not truly sentience at all.

  • A very good point, but are humans themselves truly sentient? You could say that we designed the word, and so limit it's meaning, but then what if the traveler is a higher consciousness, and is bringing exos up to a semblance of our consciousness? If so, he is only trying to make it 'fair' for exos, and so (hopefully) wouldn't grant them abilities that they wouldn't want or need.

  • I LIKE the way you start this reply! Are Humans truly sentient!? What a fantastic -BLAM-'ming question! Oh the implications of that one alone are amazing. I still think we cannot say for certain that the Exo could not love the organic, that they could potentially is safe to me as an idea because I cannot rule it out. On that we'll have to wait and see for now. The beginning of your post though, -kisses hand and throws it up in the air- Ah! Just a wonderful idea to think about. If the answer is no, perhaps we'll never be able to truly find the answer.

  • A bit unfortunate. We can try to understand what we can as best we can. For now... Yes, we'll have to wait and see.
