I don't get why people would be like that. I get the whole 'murica thing but that's silly. Are people being serious? My WoW guild is Americans and Canadians and we tease each other all the time in jest. We tell them to shut up and eat their Kraft dinner and accept that canadian bacon is just ham and they tell us to go eat our deep fried Snickers and not tip our power chairs. I only get annoyed when I feel utterly excluded because I don't know what is being said and I'm made fun of for it.

This is the worst thing. My first language is English and I live in America but one time, I said something in Esperanto to see of anyone understood me and several people totally flipped out. Someone used a racial slur, I was told "this is America," and someone even sent me a message threatening to report me for not speaking English. It was awful. I can't imagine having to deal with that kind of crap all the time.

We got use to it but all i say its a nice change to have a game that does things differently

It's sad how ignorant and/or impatient people can be. It surprises me that other Canadians would be upset when you speak French. I guess I never thought about it but I would have assumed they were pretty tolerant. I have different reasons for being glad there's no voice chat but I agree that it's nice.

I don't know what "optional" is in French... but you get my drift, right?
-
Sure, i would have no problem with it if it was optional

Good ^_^ Do you live in the americas by the way? Is that the reason you meet only them?
Good ^_^ Do you live in the americas by the way? Is that the reason you meet only them?
Yup, im a french canadian

Ah I see... I keep forgetting it's a common language there since Canadians don't appear in the media or movies / TV shows / whatever as often (here in Finland, that is)

Loudest and most contradictory haha.

I was in a session in GTA online once and it was a server from Africa. I was slightly odd for me because people were speaking English with a heavy accents. I asked where everyone was from and it was a group of guys from N Africa. I told them I was from Los Angeles in the USA and they started making fun of me playfully and asking questions about California. It would have been awkward and I probably could have been insulted by the way they spoke to me but I just chalked it up to language barrier and my perception of how I thought they were treating me. I'm sure you were reading into it more than it was. I think it's amazing you can be playing real time and talking with someone on the other other side of the world. It's awesome.

Not all Americans are like that dude. Plus for the most part everyone is always going to assume that the other people playing speak the same language
Not all Americans are like that dude. Edited by Soaringeagle61: 8/10/2014 8:42:40 PMYa I agree totally. One of the main reasons I don't play certain games like cod that is just a cesspool of those type of ignorant and hateful people. I for one actually think it would be pretty sweet to play with people from other countries. And that's also another reason why I only play with people I know or people I have played multiple matches with I know are cool just on how they act online haha.

I myself am American and I get tired of it too, when I hear these dumb little ignorant a## kids and teens speaking to British ppl or even ppl from Europe like that. American English is made up of slang coming from the form of British English. If you want a person to speak the language properly speak British English, cause well that's are Mother Language. I'm 28 I don't have time for that crap, I'm trying to have fun playing a game I paid for. Not to hear some kid raging cause his balls haven't dropped yet.

Or just stop socializing.. Don't take away a feature from everyone just so you are happy.
Or just stop socializing.. Don't take away a feature from everyone just so you are happy.
Thats usualy what i do but i still have to put up with their crap since i can still hear them, and im not even talking about the crazy hate message i get from random ppl

I understand your pain. But I mostly see that in FPS's not RPGs. A mute all button would balance everything out.

Yeah, that's what scares me. Hopefully playstation players are a little classier than most.
