...i take you are using past mmo concept art as the base for your designs. cause they kinda suck...start with function over form,and design the form around the function, having these spikes, or those big ass gloves/bracers, etc are not a good design, unless you're trying to be comical.

  • Sounds like these turds don't know art criticism. Real artists feed off of criticism. They want to improve and criticism like this helps. I agree. It doesn't look like Destiny at all, looks far too ceremonial and impractical (far too steretypically mmo to be frank), it's interesting art though.

  • I agree it doesn't seem like it was made to fit Destiny's concept. All these concepts would feel out of place and foreign if put into the game. I also agree it needs more function and an more directed design towards the Titan class. Read the bio for the class look at what there purpose was and there skills and design around that.

  • You know, fair criticism. They have a lot of cumbersome spikes and what not, but these really seem to have an endgame armor set feel to them, which is where you expect the gaudy look at me armors to be.

  • Wether they "fit" destinys style or not theyre still badass and well made. I agree that endgame stuff is always over the top, I'd grind for all 3 sets :-b Good job buddy

  • I understand where you're coming from and I even agree a little after thinking about it, but there's no need to be abrasive. A simple "this is good art, but not really in the 'Destiny' flavor, here's why" would have sufficed, and saved you from getting crucified

    You do understand what criticism is for right? it's to help people IMPROVE, if for example, i act like all you idiots and say this guy is god's gift to art, and these pictures are like the mona lisa, why would he change his design ideology? i found fault with his designed, i commented on those faults, that is criticism, now if he truly wants to improve himself he would correct those faults, and thus he improves as a artist,

    "That kinda sucks" is not constructive criticism. It's being an asshat. Also calling positive people idiots is kind of being an asshat as well.

  • Here is come constructive criticism regarding your criticism, Mr. Alchemist. You could have conveyed everything that you said like this: "Your technique is quite good. You are really good at creating a sense of material in each of the armor sets, and they have cohesive designs. If I had any criticism, it would be that these feel like they would be more at home in a more traditional, fantasy-based game, like World of Warcraft, rather than a sci-fi game like Destiny. I think that if you started by keeping in mind that every piece of armor is made to be very functional in Destiny, and built the form around that function, you'd probably achieve an even better result. Remember, that games like games like WoW have a more whimsical art direction, while games like Destiny seem to be attempting a greater degree of realism. Unfortunately, this may be a bit more restrictive on your designs." There is more to constructive criticism than merely giving the person your thought process. You have to be sufficiently polite, such that your advice isn't ignored when the person is offended at your tone. "They kind of suck," was not necessary , and added nothing to your otherwise very good advice. In any case, I don't think they DO suck. Perhaps, as you pointed out, not quite thematically appropriate for Destiny, but they are pretty cool nonetheless.

  • the art itself is fine, the art as concept work for destiny is horrible. just because something look pretty, doesn't means it's a great fit, especially within game concept art,

  • "They kinda suck" That is why I am disappointed in you. They don't suck. They look unreal. Really good concept. Yes I do agree that this set that he has made is less accurate to the Destiny feel, but in his other thread, he made some VERY accurate armor sets for the game.

    i don't hate fan art, but look at it this way. this is body armour, and suits meant to make the user survive in some harsh conditions. what in the blasses could having some spikes coming off your armor, or big ass peices of armor on your wrists( and aka, your wrist are not not more important then say...your internal organs in your chest and head) the designs on this simply reek of fantasy style mmo with huge ass shoulder pauldrons, meant for flair, over function.

  • So let me see if i understand you. if this was a real design of armour. what would those spikes DO on the far right model? how about the far left, those ginormous bracers, are that person's wrist suddenly more important than say..his heart, or his head, or say ALL HIS INTERNAL ORGANS, the design clashes against the ethos of what the armour IS. you know what i see in those designed. extra weight, no function to said weight, i see armour, that if i had the choice, i would NEVER want to wear, as a artist he's talented, but as concept art for destiny, those design, and thus the images by their very nature are bad, i see things that will grab at object as i walk by, i see things that serve no function other than to obscure my own vision.

  • You claim the practicality of the designs suck yet if you looked at the exotics gear that's in the game now. Barely any of it is as functional as you would like to imply. Infact one of the hunters chest plates is a freaken Christmas tree.

  • It's not real life just let him be creative, and you can constructively criticize without telling people their work "sucks" or "is horrible" which honestly are not positive ways to help someone with something, if the first thing you say bashes their work they're not going to listen to you anyways even if what you're saying is correct.

  • you know, if you go back and reread my comment, you would realise, i say the DESIGNS suck, and which, in my opinion they do, i even explained why they sucked, that said, i didn't say his artwork sucked. the "it's just a game so let him be creative" isn't a valid defense for designs which do not fit within the game world the concept art is for. if i got creative with a suit of armour designed for a player with a humanoid avatar, and i decided to make it look kickass with 6 arms, and 4 legs...it wouldn't fit in the player, it simply wouldn't work, and yes the design would suck at that point.
