Good OP, lot of thought, logic and reasoning, but only one problem: You have to remember that PvP is balanced. Remember how in Iron Banner your gear actually mattered, well in regular Crucible matches damage, armour, shields, HP were pretty much balanced out for every person and every piece of equipment. Therefore; if they did change the Hand Cannon and double the damage for PvE play then they could simply retain and slightly alter the modifiers for it in PvP to change it either ever so slightly or not at all...although you have to admit, having to use either half or two thirds of your magazine to kill someone every time when I only use between a quarter and half with my auto-rifle, pulse rifle or scout rifle...I thought the Hand Cannon was a Primary Weapon? Not a secondary sidearm which is what it feels like at the minute.

  • Probably going to get slated for this, but; Did anyone play CoD: Black Ops? Does anyone remember the Python Revolver from the multiplayer game? Well in CoD:BO when you were using that revolver ir felt meaty, killed with 2 shots up close and with 4 at a distance, and felt more like a primary weapon than a pistol sidearm. Check out the video above for some interesting facts and gameplay footage, and remember; with a 2-shot close range kill, that's 3 kills per magazine, that would bring the Hand Cannon into line with other Primary Weapons in Destiny.

  • Let me point some things out for you. I wouldnt personally mind if they buffed the damage. I just think it is very unlikely to happen because it would change the established kill time by 33%. This is a lot. And they wouldnt change the actual impact of the HC, they would change the Critical, thus it would act exactly the same in PvE. Also the enemies in PvE do not have a set HP and damage relies more heavily on Attack. The Primary vs. Specail discussion has been going on since they actually moved it out of Specials. The thing is, it isnt a "sidearm", and neither are shotguns and sniper rifles. And it would be the 5 shot HC that killed in two to the head. Not the 6 shot. Unless they buffed both damage and clip capacity. (not necessary)

Okay, you missed the point entirely there it seems, allow me to clarify: Hand Cannons currently have the same amount of ammunition as other primary weapons, meaning around 10 full magazines of reserve ammunition, so ten lots of 6 is smaller than 10 lots of 24 or 44 or 48, but talking in percentage terms, the HC uses a larger amount of it's magazine to effectively kill someone than other primary weapons. The HC also has a higher than average fire time to empty the magazine, despite having only 6 rounds, and has the longest reload time of other primary weapons in tests (Check out the video above). As for criticals and impact, not what I was talking about, I was talking about damage modifiers, like don't affect the physics of the gun, just increase the modifier for damage done with that weapon from 1.0 to 2.0 or thereabouts. Meaning you get the same reaction form shooting a mob, but the number that pops up is higher. And to clarify further, a Sidearm is a secondary weapon. Special and Heavy are not secondary weapons...by sidearm I mean the pistol you carry along with your primary weapon in most other games, like real life soldiers have an assault rifle and a back-up pistol. So when I say that the Hand Cannon does half the damage, and feels like a sidearm, I'm saying it doesn't feel like it fits into any of the Destiny weapon categories.

  • Really I just dont know where you are going with all this. And I dont think I misinterpreted what you said about damage, exept I dont understand where you came up with Double the damage in PvE ? What I tried to point out is that you dont have to mess with that if you just up the critical a bit (instead of base damage), because it wouldnt make a big difference in PvE. You realize the OP is mostly aimed at PvP right?
