Plus, it's not like a matchmaking system would FORCE people who have that core group to use it. It would just be for us people who don't have a core group. And let us deal with the consequences of it.
If you don't need a matchmaking system to raid, then don't whine about it. Those of use who do need it want one, regardless of the possible problems.

That's not how it would go over though. If they had matchmaking in raids, there'd be so much outcry demanding that raids be nerfed, or an entirely new difficulty mode be created so that they can experience it.
-
Maybe. Maybe not. Who cares anyway? If they made a matchmaking difficulty with gear that was less powerful, it would still not effect people with the core group who could do the normal mode raids. And that is all based on the assumption that raids would be impossible with a random group, which seems unlikely.

I think it would effect everyone because it means anytime Bungie makes a raid, they'd basically have to make it twice. This means less time will be spent actually adding new content to the game. It's not just a simple matter of lowering the damage and health of enemies either. Every mechanic would have to be looked at and possibly tweaked, and their attention would be constantly divided between the two. World of Warcraft added a "matchmaking" system for Raids. They also made the encounters faceroll easy compared to the normal modes, yet groups still fail. For hours and hours and hours. If it was normal difficulty, no bosses would ever be killed in that mode lol.

I think that's an incredible exaggeration of the time required to lower the difficulty. And i've played matchmaking raids. They work fine. The goal is not to make it so it's impossible to fail a raid. You will always have groups that fail no matter what. And anyway, i'm not even advocating for a two tiered raid system. I'm just saying there should be a system, whether it be by rank, random, roll, etc, by which people can queue or easily form groups for raids without having to have a core group of friends to schedule and play with.

There definitely needs to be a system to find other players looking for group. It needs to be a lobby system with some kind of ability to communicate prior to setting out into the world. This would make finding people wanting to raid at any time really easy. It's the automated nature of matchmaking that is problematic.

Yeah. I don't disagree. I think most people just use matchmaking (like myself) as a blanket term. Or random matchmaking is the first thing that comes to mind for a lot of people.
