3s-gte. Best of both worlds and they arent impossible to get parts for. Or just put a nice ported gsr motor in that civic and be much happier.

  • I've thought about the 3sgte but I don't know if I want that much power. I think around 200hp will be fine for me. I don't know though. I think I would have fun building my own 5s turbo.

  • The turbo's easy, its the gaskets and seals that need to be replaced before safely running the turbo that suck. The motor can handle it, sure, buth the o rings in your spark plug tubes, your valve cover gasket, head gasket, maybe not. Plus any time you can afford to make the power all motor, do it.

  • I think with around 8 psi everything should be fine. I'd rebuild most everything before I turboed it. I'm not looking to make a lot of power as I'm limited by the fwd. 200 is what I want. Beams achieves that and turbo can achieve that. The 3sgte can achieve that but I'm still not sure about it.

  • FWD isnt that much of a limitation. My gsr runs 12s. Ported and polished head, golden eagle rods, ferrara valves, mild cam, intake, exhaust and a type r tranny. Also, some suspension upgrades will improve what you get out of anything you do. Just keep all the work and money in perspective, and do whatever you can by yourself. It's a great hobby man.

  • It took me five minutes to realize that you weren't talking about one of those naked, detuned Suzukis there... lol. Confused me for a bit.

  • All the work will be done by me and my dad and brother. The more I think though, the more the beams sounds better. It's so much easier. Yeah I wouldn't build my own engine but I the ease of swap makes it so tempting.

  • Yep. I'm leaning more towards the beams. It's cheaper, easier, and red.

  • I love my red valve cover as well. Get yourself some nice blue wires when you buy the rest of the parts :)

  • Nah I like my stuff to look factory. I want it to look like it came out of the factory with that engine.
