Sorry for the double post...
Remember when the game was revealed and they looked around and said everything you can see here is explorable.

They oversell everything almost to the point of explicitly lying (see. the Reach AI and the scale of that campaign, what there was to do in the ODST hub, how forge maps were going to be implemented in Halo 3 matchmaking (got there EVENTUALLY but only after a couple years), and Halo 2 and various immolated ninjas) and that's just their PR style (hype the kids up until their imagination fills in the gaps you left in during development.) Its generally the case to stay as far away as possible from pre-launch info bombardments, but with this dev its essential (there's a lot of collateral damage that you're best off not knowing about.)

They did explicitly lie! They said everything you see here is explorable and they were looking out for miles and miles. I wouldn't be nearly as let down if they hadn't lied and been so coy about everything.
