Point is to KEEP PLAYING. I know sometimes RNG sux i can't tell you how many times I've not gotten the loot I've needed in games like this due to the random loot distribution but it gets you back in the game grinding for that sweet sweet loot and when you get it man it's rewarding.

But by creating a system where you get it by getting better, or having a weighted RNG system instead of just RNG player who perform well will want to continue playing for higher drops, and considering if they don't get it they'll at least feel like they are impacting whether they do or not. A system without means bad players will just play and randomly get it, instead of trying to improve to get more gear they'll just wallow around for the randomness of it. And better players will be discouraged due to these low level players getting gear they feel they should be getting. If anything allowing skill to decide your drops would create a cycle where players would rather keep playing then force themselves too and be disatisfied with the game.

If they dont have the interest to put time in or cant handle the concept of instant gratification from rewards then this isn't the game for them. Not trying to be dismissive but they've made it clear how they hope people will play game. This isn't a month of fun or a run to the top this is going last the next couple years of people grinding and trying to obtain the best armour, putting together clans, and general exploration. They took a lot of elements from your standard mmo such as the RNG which I truly appreciate. Seeing other players get that rare ship hasn't made me mad or whine. It just made me play more in hopes that one day I'll be lucky enough.

If anything I don't think you understand anything about the game. While they've taken MMO elements they have constantly stated this isn't an MMO. The fact of the Iron Banner is that in the full game it will be filled with level 20 players with the best gear, if you are not level 20 or have the best gear you will lose 90% of the time due to the level advantages being disabled. Players will have to play the single player to get said good gear, similar to grinding Sepiks Prime to get the best gear for the beta. The entire point you are making is invalid. Once you finish the game, and get to Iron Banner, you are at the endgame and top tier of players. As such it would be a bettee decision to reward these player who have already spent the time getting the best gear for Iron Banner to receive rewards benefitting their skill levels. Otherwise you are just saying that no matter how good you are, a low level crappy player can still beat you. This would be extremely off putting and why would anyone bother with Iron Banner then? You could just go to normal crucible with level 6's and demolish them. Besides, it will likely take a month at least to get the good gear, what would be dismissive is not rewarding those players who have completed everything and are looking for a challenge and rewards in the endgame. It's basic flow theory. Games will feel better have the anxiety builds as they want to get a good drop, and don't want to lose, and then when they start plateuing due to winning by a bit the boredom increases. Without this (with RNG) what's the point of the challenge? It'd just be boredom. If anything this poll has spoken, this isn't an mmo, this is an online shooter, Bungie shouldn't be catering the your niche specific tastes but rather to what would work best. And that happens to be a non-RNG based system.
