I know we can trade items between our personal characters through the use of the vault, but I'd like it if we could trade with other players too. I hope this is added in for the launch. You've no idea how many times I've said to my friends "Oh, I have a sick weapon for you, one sec...oh wait, nvm. cant :/"

  • They learned from other games that trade systems encourage system manipulation. So they nixed it all together...and I'm glad

  • you can earn it for your friends, fine they might get a freebee, but that doesnt mean the moment the find a sick item for you they wouldnt trade it to you, seriously i think trading is a necessity.

  • You...my friend, have obviously NEVER played World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XI Online....or any other MMO that revolves around trade and/OR Auction House sales to obtain your gear. "...doesn't mean the moment they find a sick item for you they wouldn't trade it..." That's EXACTLY what that means; for some of the population. For every 100 players there are 25 of them waiting to abuse that kind of system. Let's say it's trade only. No currency exchange. One item for one Item of equal or lesser value/Item level. Those 25 per every hundred players would use this gifting/trading system to buff up the PVP characters they use so that they have the maximum possible gear for whatever the level cap is for each PVP zone giving them a decisive advantage. Then everyone else would have to follow suit; it would be mandatory to be able to obtain any sort of favorable PvP outcome. Let's say there IS an Auction House and eventually we can SELL our items to other players for Glimmer. An Item for Glimmer trade system where the prices are determined by the sellers and on the items rarity. This never works out favorably, for anyone. Those 25 of 100 people begin to run Strikes day and night; wait for h ours in a zone where a particular Public Event spawns with a chance of dropping a rare / Legendary engram, they run back and forth around the moon and Venus and Earth collecting glimmer. Then they return the Auction House and begin selling their items for horrendous amounts of Glimmer and using the Glimmer they're earning to buy up any sales that beat their prices so they can re-list your items for even more and inflate the Destiny Economy. This is a shooter....a shared open world cooperative shooter. NOT an MMO. Do you know why a trade/sale system would never work in Destiny? Because you can't CRAFT anything. For there to be an Economy there has to be something to supply. Multiple somethings. Bungie has effectively dodged that horrendous mechanic by giving a vendor to turn in the things you gather from each planet to for rewards specific to you....and by making Engrams and weapon/gear drops randomized and instanced to only your character (Only drops for you not those around you) I'll put my faith in Bungie and the direction they are heading with this. They know what they're doing.
