I don't understand, whats with the putting down of players who like to do well in games? I'm not talking about the ragers or players who attack others but your comic is hinting at making fun of any player who gets frustrated in a game because they want to do better.
Those who think casual players are the only ones having fun are entirely false: http://www.learntocounter.com/i-play-for-fun-the-four-dumbest-words-in-video-games/
I don't understand, whats with the putting down of players who like to do well in games?
I wasn't aiming at the player who strive to do well in games but rather at the ones who make the multiplayer experience for less experienced ones a total nightmare. Those who often harass anyone who is not performing to their standards. Most skilled players are to be admired and set a goal for novices to improve their game. One could make fun in the same way of the idiots who make no effort to play the game the right way and shoot their teammates to lower their shields or die unnecessarily for "the fun of it". I agree strategy and wanting to improve are a big part of enjoying a game, but idiots are everywhere in life and in games. If you are skilled, you can choose to be a mentor or an asshat. Some of us are not professional gamers and do not have the luxury to play games 40 hours a week. We enjoy games to relax, have fun (Ermahgerd I said the taboo words) and get better. To encounter players who tell you to get out and go shoot ourselves is not conducive to improvement ;) I never take myself too seriously, in FPS or in life, makes it less stressful and happier. That doesn't mean it hinders my desire to win or my "never give up" attitude.
Peace, love and headshots FTW :)
alright cool. I thought your comic as implying anyone who enjoyed playing well was playing games 'wrong' or isn't having 'fun'. Glad that is not the case. Sadly many people seem to think all competitive players are not enjoying themselves or have to all berate others which is simply not true at all. The only time I deserve to be chewed out is if I'm in a game like halo 3 at lvl 50 high and mess the match up for my team. High level of play like that it's unacceptable to let the team down, like in any of field of work or skillset maximum ability is required and anything less is failure.

"I play for fun" The battlecry of bad kids, I swear.
-
If they want to do better they don't have to rant about it though...
-
don't get what you mean. The 'play for fun' is a huge problem with gamers and glad it's being addressed more and more. Everyone using it to undermine others who may play for fun in a more competitive way.
-
Yeah but many competitive gamers just complain about their team and stuff rather than giving constructive criticism.
-
I agree. But I do not do not that. I keep to myself when I play and if my team does poorly oh well. The only time there is no excuse for poor performance is in a ranked playlist of whatever the game may be. Even then I won't chew a player out. Only time I have a problem with a casual player is when they send me a message after a match saying crap like "why you try so hard?" or stupid crap like that. It's like "uhh I want to win because I like doing well maybe?" lol

Yeah I respect that, it's just that he was making fun of the players who are too aggressive about the whole thing.
-
Exactly. Any gamer either a skilled player or an obnoxious noob I-Don't-give-a crap-about-anything type is making games less fun for everyone. It's all about the attitude, strategy can make up for not being able to cartwheel while getting head shots and skilled players can be a huge help for beginners, if they want to. ;)

I also agree with this
