3 Dumb Reasons Why The Beta Shouldnt Transfer (imo)
I personally would rather not have a wipe but if it happens it happens and its whatever but the 3 dumbest reason for why the beta should wipe that I keep hearing are just annoying, her me out.
1-First Day OP- This one is highly stupid considering the fact that everyone one is just worried about getting stomped in the Crucible when over half the community I can guarantee just want to play the actual game explore and grind for gear. Plus you are straight delusional if you don't think dudes are gonna get the game at midnight go home hit lvl 8 in 4 hours or just play all night getting to lvl 14 to roll you in the Crucible at 3 in the afternoon the next day.
2-Its Not Fair For People That Didn't Play The Beta- No its not fair you want Bobby over heres lvl 12 AR to get wiped just cause you couldn't find a way to put down 5 bucks on a game in a years time, plus once again you can get to a decent lvl to hang in the Crucible in all of 4-5 hours get over it.
3-It Ruins The Story Experience- Lmao no it doesn't if you cant remember in a month that your first run of missions led up to the defeat of a giant eyeball named Sepiks Prime than you have issues. I personally will no doubt be able to jump right back in to where I left off if the beta carries over and be happy I didnt have to spend 5 hours doing something I've already done and just immerse myself into gear hunting.
These are 3 dumb reasons I keep hearing, in conclusion either way I'm stoked for the game and really happy with how the beta feels and how fun it is, if it carries over that would be great if it doesn't I'll get over it for sure cause its no big deal but at least come up with better reasons for why it should.

Ok so people just don't fully read and cant realize I am honestly not for or against a wipe. Either way I'm gonna play this great game and be happy. I'm just arguing my point against the 3 dumbest reasons why it should wipe in this post, so please quit with the personal attacks with the stand point of "OP wants a Transfer' I know damn well the chances of a wipe are 98% I'm just asking for people to stop regurgitating the same 3 damn reasons. 1 Reply1. I can almost guarantee that Crucible will be a ghost town (no pun intended) for the first day or two. Like you said, people are going to be gear hunting and leveling up. 2. If it only takes a few hours what's the problem with started over with new gear? It's not like you just spent 5 hours going through the Library on LASO. 3. You actually believe those story missions will be in the final build? lol I am stoked about the game too, but your 3 reasons for why they should transfer your beta progression to the final build is laughable.

2 RepliesEven with a wipe, those who have played the beta will have an advantage. We have used the controls, understand the system and how some of the upgrade works, etc. etc.. I'm new to the beta and still dont understand grimores, etc. Hopefully I will before the beta ends. See, you even have an advantage over me haha

This is a beta, not early access. The initial assumption is that the beta would get wiped. Until Bungie speaks otherwise, this is still the assumption. It is no one's fault but your own if you've dropped 30 hours into the beta and now all of the sudden EXPECT beta stats to carry over. A fresh start on 9/9 is the most fair, there is no question about that. It should not be a REQUIREMENT to BETA TEST a game to be on the same level on LAUNCH day.

3 RepliesI think they will wipe it because the leveling was accelerated for the beta so we can test more stuff. If they kept the leveling the same in the full as in the beta, people would be at level 20 by day 2, and that doesn't make for a long-lasting game or franchise

1 ReplyI agree, the reasons are dumb, but it's going to be wiped. What if they change the story missions? Change some crucial things for the beginning of the game? What if some of the game isn't final and we have something that's not in the final game? Gotta take that into consideration too. Nothing in the Beta is final and is subject to change. It'd be stupid to carry stuff over in entirety. The most I'd suspect would transfer over to the full game is anything left in your vault or whatever you have in your inventory. I would rather not have characters carry over.

1 ReplyI hope it transfers over. Loved the Alpha and Beta at first, but pretty bored of it all now. Bored to the point where if I my stuff doesn't transfer over to the full game and I have to trudge through these early bits again I might honestly not even bother.

I'm with ya brother. I LOVE the game and will play No matter what. I laughed at the reasons people keep wanting a wipe and you nailed how frail their arguments are. I'd like to add on to 2 of them: 1- People getting ahead. Guess what folks the world has time zones. So if you live in Pacific US and buy the game at midnight, come home and play you will run into people that might be level 8 because UK players have been playing for 8 hours. BLAM. Get over it. In a day we will have level 20s. 2- not everyone got to play the beta. Well now that's a giant Fail argument. BETA IS OPEN TO EVERYONE !! So I don't care either way. It will save me some time if they don't wipe it all, if not I've got vacation in September. I'll be back to where I am in a few fun hours.

1 ReplyErrrr. Actually you missed the biggest reason for why it shouldn't transfer. The fact that this is the BETA. Not the final release, not early access. The Beta build has already been improved upon with the final build.

Edited by swiftyzilla: 7/25/2014 2:01:32 AMthe beta story is different than what the full game single player story will be. they will wipe and comes full game it will be a near completely new experience. and we get to keep something on saturday if you get on anyway. they should wipe a beta isnt a full game its a test engine based on key elements of the game some of those wepons/gear may not even be in the full game in the end

I always presumed that other than the bonus material it would all be wiped for a clean start with the full version. Either way I don't care. There are always going to be people with more free time than me to play until they are maxed out in a week. I'm playing for me.

How about transferring items from our vault restart from lvl 1 and we would have to level up to equip them again

Honestly I LOVE my gear, but I wouldn't mind having to start over my stats, as long as I could end up keeping my gear. Weather that be the gear people put in Vaults, or just keep the gear you have on your character. *shrug* I just think that would be a better balance and or reward for those who took the time to reserve and play in the beta.

well i would like to transfer over some stuff as i have bought emblesm, ships and speeder bikes which i plan to put in bank before beta finish so they transfer. and some weapons and armor. even if they transfer toons to release i will still be starting again cos in 2 months when the games out i don't wanna be level 8 doing level 6 missions ((why to hell have they got that annoying level 6 mission on the moon there just rub in our faces we can't get further)) at level 8 . i mean right now doing level 8 devils lair is a walk in the park as long as the other guys keep up. did that our 3-4 times today was fun except for the tank thing which takes ages.
