I strongly disagree with the idea of any sort of text-based chat. I think we should have voicechat for any party-based communication (fireteams, pvp, etc.) but no text-based chat. I've seen the way some people in this community interact, and it sounds like an absolute nightmare to unleash those people on the larger population. Let's keep it to voicechat in parties.

  • That's why I said you would need a mute option, all you have to do is mute someone when ever they are spamming and you never have to see their text again, you are then left with a great system of communication. You may have to mute 20 people the first day, maybe 10 people a day the first week, 5 people a day the second week, after the first month you probably wont have to mute people more than once or twice a day if that. After that you left to communicate maturely with a great system of communication. Wouldn't you like to be able to easily communicate with anyone rearguards of weather the spend they have a mic? Wouldn't you like to be able to type: "Anyone with a mic, wanna do such and such a mission?" Because I would love to, I have been playing So long and I found one person with a mic at about 8 am Central time and havent been able to communicate with anyone since. Yes people could abuse it, but whats our alternative? Playing alone? Destiny is getting pretty boring alone... I think a chat system would be worth haveing to mute some annoying people. Allot of the annoying stuff on here is by allot of the same people, who if you could mute, you would probably filter 30 posts per. Do you still feel the same way? Because I think a chat system would be worth the trouble. If you don't agree why are you playing an MMO? The point of an MMO is to be Social, and so far Destiny is anti-social. I challenge you to come up with a better solution.

  • Okay, there are a few problems with your assertions. Bungie has never claimed, to the best of my knowledge, that Destiny is an MMO. In fact, it's fairly limiting in the number of people that can appear near you at one time. The maps, so far as I can tell, are fairly heavily instanced. It may be multiplayer and online, but it is not massively so. The game already has a perfectly functional match-making system for getting through the game, so a chat function for forming parties would be redundant. And having to sort through the spammers would be time-consuming. Why should I want to spend time sifting through mountains of garbage just to find the one post from someone wanting to form a strike team, when I could just let the matchmaker build a functional team for me? As for being forced to play alone, you should rarely have to do that. Maybe in story missions, but story missions aren't hard. You shouldn't need help to complete them. I don't think it's necessary to come up with a better system. The game is fine as it is. There's enough crap grammar and awful ideas floating around in the forums. Don't being it to the actual game.

  • Yes I now know that this isan't MMO as I was falsely informed by my friend. And its not about needing help, I don't need help, I wan't to have fun and I'm not the kind of gamer who has much fun alone. Any game is funner with friends. Although I didn't say it earlier this post was made because people were wanting proximity voice chat, I posted this as a better solution. I don't want to have to mute little kids who physically hurt my ears. I can easily ignore text, I cannot Ignore chat. And about the perfectly functional matchmaking system, it puts you in a random game, with random people and doesn’t let you talk to anyone, the only people to find people with mics, though Destiny is randomly inviting everyone at the tower (or other place) to a fireteam and ask if they have mics This isan't about the match-making, its about the game being anti-social. I wan't to play with people, whats the point of simply playing next to somebody? If I wanted to play by myself, I'd play my Nintendo 64
