Go to a slaughterhouse and buy a bunch of animal brains. Bring them to the run, and offer them to the "zombies". They'll be pretty much forced to eat them via social pressure. If they refuse, you can confidently say they're not real zombies, and laugh at them for pretending the be something they are not.
Beware though, eating brain matter is a significant vector for diseases, including a GREATLY enhanced risk of getting a prion disease, which is 100% fatal and totally untreatable. So whether you intend to massacre it or not, feeding them brain matter may do it anyway (in a few years cause long incubation periods).
