We've all been a victim to some coward hiding around a corner with a shotgun or some sniper who finds some weird vantage point to pick people off. It's a cheap, despicable exploit that ruins the gameplay. Yes, I am talking about campers. They ruin the game. But this is a problem that could easily be solved if bungie put waypoints above everybody's heads. That way nobody will get the drop on you because you will always know where they are. I remember the 1v1 playlist on halo 3 had a similar mechanic, but I'm surprised this hasn't been utilized more effectively.

Maybe, not your worst idea

Edited by Obi Wan Stevobi: 6/30/2014 2:08:53 PMNo thank you. If you always had way points you would never sneak and objective out of anywhere. Would also be just as handy for the camper to know exactly when you are coming for them and where you are approaching, eliminating the advantage you have when you know someone is camping and you already know where they are.

How is this guy NOT perma IP banned yet?

Personally campers dont bother me all that much. Most of the time I am given the tools that I need to take care of people who are dug in. Players who stay in one place are giving up the advantage of not letting the enemy know where they are. They only have so many lanes to watch and are usually hoping that you will try to come back at them the same way. The only advantages they have are the ones that you give them. Camp hunting can be fun. Especially if its a whole team of them who always go back to the same places to take advantage of the lanes. Take them down right and watch the dominos fall as you pull them into a head on skirmish.

"Cheap, despicable exploit that ruins the gameplay"? Uhh No. There is nothing wrong with playing like that, it's just a different play style. Instead of running around just to get picked off from a random direction, they are more careful and resourceful. There is a problem with people that sit around the corner for the WHOLE game and not moving an inch, yeah that would piss me the fck off also, however, people that are carefully moving along the walls, checking their corners and picking enemies off with a sneak attack, I welcome them to my team.

They could add a timer so if u sit in a certain area to long it marks u in the map

Its a valid strategy.....call it cowardice...guess what? You are dead, he is alive...guess who's winning? Don't like it? Find a way to counter it or stop running into the mouse trap. Bitch about camping all you want....if I was guarding a point in a game or real life...I'd do it..... because intelligent play is a way to beat superior reflexes...and that is strategy

Edited by Rhynerd: 6/30/2014 4:27:52 PMFrom my experiences in playing Blacklight Retribution, I know that won't "fix" your issue.

Seems legit, but wouldn't it make more sense to have this feature available as a microtransaction? That way if someone didn't want to have waypoints zipping across their screen, they wouldn't be saddled with them.
-
Yep. And bullets should all have a homing ability so you don't have to aim.
-
I know this is only a game, but imagine if in real life soldiers had big waypoints above their heads... Say a sniper - kinda gives away his advantage of being hidden away at a distance. Being a campers cannon fodder may not be fun during a game, it is still a tactic. And more often than not, I'm cannon fodder to both campers and good players - but sometimes, I get lucky and either take them out first or I work out the location and hunt them. So, just sit back, enjoy the beta & final game - and who knows, I may just end up being cannon fodder to your guardian.
-
I disagree. I don't camp but I still think everyone has a right to their own strategy. If you don't like campers then just find a way to beat them. It's that simple.
-
Edited by Timbo: 6/30/2014 7:03:00 PMCamping isn't much of an issue in a skill based shooter like this or Halo. Camping in CoD gives the camper high advantage in a gunfight. In these games you still have time to outshoot your opponent even if they get the jump on you.

Camping for the win TWCFTM

I died just a few times to campers, and when I knew where they were, I either went to another objective, or I killed him because I knew pretty accurately where he was.
-
Getting killed by campers sucks but it's just one of those things about FPS games, way points would ruin pvp cos you'd never get a tactical advantage on sneaking up on someone
-
Camper kills me once, shame on them. Camper kills me twice, shame on me. That is why we have grenades, and must study maps for multiple flanking routes. I have spawn points for countless maps across multiple FPS games memorized and I do well because of that.

Is this a Troll Post?

If anything better players will camp more.

Nop just nop

Flanking exists for a reason.

You're the most annoying troll. Please just stop. You're not funny, you're not unique. I remember Deej asking you to stop because you're just upsetting people. It's gone long enough. You're time has long passed. Hodor.
