Warlock or Titan> Hunter
The hunter is based on self centered actions only(so far), The Warlock and Titan have abilities that Support the group, the Hunter dose not.

The Hunter has many boost in long and short-range fighting: AKA, sniping and melee. Just because s/he isn't doing something like dropping a barrier to protect her/himself and others from bullets doesn't mean that the Hunter isn't a valuable member and supporter. Example: A Warlock is cornered by a tanky Titan, but saved by a sniping Hunter who manages to get a precise kill for bonus damage. In this situation, the Hunter didn't boost stats or heal, but he did support.

Edited by splattherpunk: 7/24/2014 8:12:53 PMI don't know about self centered. I helped my friend run through PVE and against sepic I let him chase me around the map for what felt like forever. I nailed him with consecutive sniper shots and he didn't like that too much. I was cannon fodder while the group hit him. Who says hunters can't tank, lol. In pvp I'm starting to play a more support role and trying to protect my teammates. How does that not help the group?

That's because the Hunter is in essence, when you take off all the camouflage, you're DD class. (Damage Dealer) Like a Rogue. Ranger. Warrior. All of their talents, skills, abilities, are for direct damage; and lots of it. They can't be wasted on buffs and things that help the party; because dishing out the most damage among the three IS how they help the party. No Warrior type class has support abilities, it's just not their bag....baby. The Titan is your tank, they take it in the face so the Warlock can buff, debuff, and do what they do best and so the Hunter can get in position to snipe or otherwise knife things in the face. The Warlock is the lightest armored; and thus stays behind the other two and provides assistance so the other two can better do their jobs. The Hunter? Well we clean up after everyone else. Our potential for damage output is the highest; so we kill more, faster, and do it better. Without support from the other two, however....that becomes difficult. Just like without a hunter, any fights you get into as a Titan or Hunter is going to be much longer. Just my two cents from watching extensive videos from all three classes and hearing how each classes specialty works in the game. How they support each other.

That really is not true... Most of my perks go to increasing Agility and Speed, or give me opportunities to become and invisible. I'd say that the three classes can interchange roles for the most part, but have a recommended sort of skill tree.

After playing the game for quite a while now, I have to say the above is absolutely true. Not only because Bungie defines the Hunter class as the Damage Dealer for BOTH subclasses (Alongside the Warlocks void class, versus the Support heavy Solar class) but because our agility and speed and invisibility techniques when running Bladedancer all go towards keeping us alive and helping us maneuver (preferably behind our target for the massive critical strike damage) so that we can dish out even more damage. My perks in that class all go towards armor and survivability, no matter how you divide out the perks, though, your job remains the same as a Bladedancer: Damage. We have absolutely no abilities that support other members directly like Solar Warlock and Bubble Titans. Gunslinger we shoot things in the face, Bladedancer we knife them in the back, go invisible so that we can escape close quarters, drop a grenade on them, rinse and repeat. It's our way of supporting our team indirectly because if you gave us all the same weapons, our skill tree allows us more damage output than all the other classes. It's how bungie designed Hunters to be. I'm trying to find the page that said as much that we saw during the beta but can't seem to locate it anymore -_-
