(Note: I feel this goes in offtopic because its about buying a product, rather than playing or discussing a game)
Okay, I'll make this as short as possible:
-I want to preorder the special edition of a game.
-During the release date, I'll be at college and won't be able to make a release date pick up at my local store.
-Fall break starts the day after the release date, but it isn't guaranteed that I'll make it back home within 48 hours of the release.
-There is a gamestop near my college that I can pre-order at.
-For me to pre-order there, I'd have to wait till the fall semester starts to go to make an in person pre-order (at which point, they may stop taking pre-orders for the special edition).
-I could however pre-order online, but, 1) I would have to get a gift card to use, 2) I don't have a mailing address at college so I'd still have to pick a store to send it to, 3) I'm not sure if online pre-orders are reliable.
So, is gamestop's online pre-order system reliable enough for me to have them reserve a special edition of a game at the store I choose? Or should I order it at the local store, and try to rush back in time to get it? Or should I wait and pre-order it once the semester starts at the location near my college?

2 RepliesI despise Game Stop now, I only get something there if it's the last and quickest resort. Several Best Buys had no copies of Tales of Symphonia chronicles near me, Game Stop 2 miles away of course has one or two new copies left. Had to give them muh 30$ to get something I really wanted. I ignore giving them my money because I basically got two games brand new to me for 15$ each, which is a steal for the amount of game time I'll get out of them, so I digress. I'd try and find some other store near you that might be able to do it, relying on shipping times for a special release doesn't sound fun.
