I went AMD with my last PC build because the CPU/GPU combo was less than half the price of a comparable nvidia/intel combo. You sure AMD is the more expensive brand?

 • it was.. turns out it was a watercooling only Sapphire card with better performance than a GTX Titan black... and i'm going air cooling only... quick question: if you have 3 OEM drives (Optical and two WD Black HDDs) in a rig, how many/what extra cables do you need to buy?

 • i have no clue?i just assume bigger numbers means it's better except when it comes to price. did i mention i've never built a computer before so i'm researching everything as part of planning it out? also about the cables? i watched the newegg series on builds where they said cables not included for things like hard drives.

 • Unless you have money to throw away, don't buy the newest/most expensive things you see. Newest is always the buggiest and least supported, and going just one revision back is a huge discount.

 • do you typically need any things like molex/sata extension cables or anything? do you absolutely need a sound card for headphones/music or intel's default in combination with a good mobo good enough? Does anyone even use PS/2 ports any more?

 • Not usually. Only time you should need anything special is if you are trying to include some old hardware that need adapters or conversions, or are using a really odd style/custom tower that would require extensions. Everything should go together pretty routinely for most builds. Personally, I've never bought a sound card. Only real reason to get one is if you want to hook up a real high def audio setup. But for standard computer speakers/mics, onboard should be fine.

 • A good place to start would be http://www.logicalincrements.com as you can compare the parts and performance.

 • do most cases come with mobo standoffs installed? what size screwdrivers do you typically need?

 • Quite a lot of cases come with pre installed standoffs. I don't know the size of the screws, but I i assume a quick Google would tell you.

 • Your power supply should have plenty of room for extras, so shouldn't have to worry about power cables. If no cables came with the drives themselves, you'll just need a SATA (whichever standard presumably SATA III) cable for each.
