You have it backwards. AMD is cheaper, Nvidia is more expensive. It's a tradeoff between price vs. features, essentially.
EVGA and Sapphire are both pretty good, can't go wrong with either one. AMD does have Catalyst Control Center for all of its graphics cards, but some graphics cards from both manufacturers tend to include their own (optional) overclocking software that goes beyond the scope of CCC.
It's really just up to you. AMD is cheaper, Nvidia has more features.

well i was looking at the highest end cards for gaming, and the best Sapphire R9xxx costs a bit more than an EVGA titan black(the titan Z is too expensive and also not optimized for gaming but media production, having slower default clocks than the reference black), IIRC. so i think i'll save for the factory overclocked version of the titan black. EVGA has two versions though and i don't understand the difference. one is the signature series for about $80 more than the regular Overclocked. also dumb duestion: the cooler fans come pre-installed right? because EVGA also sells a new titan specific air cooler.

Fans are usually installed, yes. Not sure where you looked for those prices, but the Titan Anything is almost always $1000 dollars at the least, I don't know if I've ever seen an AMD card cost nearly that much.

it's like 2K for a top of the line sapphire R9xxx with atleast 6gb of VRAM last i checked on new egg or part picker a month ago. any idea what the difference between the two EVGA OC TBs are?
sapphire R9xxx with atleast 6gb of VRAM
VRAM will make the price skyrocket. You're getting swindled.

i'm not able to post complex links in this browser. EVGA.com if you click the graphics cards-> titan black, it has 5 versions. one is factory overclocked, the other is also factory overclocked and marked signature edition; specs look similar.

Edited by Elrond Hubbard: 6/18/2014 7:58:07 PMIt looks like the Titans cost significantly more based on marginal differences. It would also be nice to have a link to the specific AMD card you're referring to. The only one I can find is this thing. It is the only AMD card I can find that costs anywhere close to $1,000. If that's the case, AMD blows the Titan Black out of the water for only a few hundred dollars more. Nvidia's only comparable card performance-wise costs twice as much.

-well, i were looking at a an advanced card that required watercooling, apparently. eh, the card i was looking at works fine and looks to be pretty decent.,. now then, is there a win 8.1 compatible bd/dvd/cd player or if it's Win 7 rated can it be ""bootcamped" for a sort of reverse compatibility in win 8.1?
-
Edited by Elrond Hubbard: 6/18/2014 8:35:03 PMI'd imagine anything that works with Windows 7 works with 8 unless it's "Surface RT" but I doubt that part applies to you.

ok next question: assuming your optic drive and both HDDs are OEM which means no cables, how many cables do you need to buy extra? 3 sata3.0s and a couple molex or what?
-
I have no idea. That's for you to figure out. Just set it up, and if you need more wires, get them.
