As an independent, more of a centrist, I always feel a pang of sadness when I hear someone talk about the GOP. I'm not certain how much longer the GOP will be around for and it's sad to see a party that's been so influential and proud in US history in such disgrace.
I want to know what the flood thinks.
If you disagree, that's great. Tell me why.

1 ReplyIt isn't just the GOP. The entire political system in America has come down to which side can bitch the loudest. If both sides actually collaberated on certain topics, instead of seeing each other as enemies, America would be better off.

the GOP is spinning out of control due to trade offs and greed... simple as that. there are just much better choices now.

3 RepliesThe GOP is not dying nor is it the currently problem. I consider myself to be in the middle as I don't just blindly side with a party just because. But lately I am coming to the realization that the left wing liberals will be the death of the US. Not only would they LOVE to flood the US with Mexicans and other nonwhite lower class immigrants but they are also totally destroying social aspects of the country. Gay marriage and promoting homosexuality is wrong, killing unborn babies is wrong, trying to disarm US citizens is wrong, they will crucify white people for "being racist" yet anytime a black does something to white people the liberal media is nowhere to be found it is obvious they have a secret agenda to cause division in the US I also know that the majority of this sites users are prepubescent liberals who are blinded by left wing slogans and cheap talk so this post will just be laughed at. One day you guys will grow up though and see the world how it really is.

Edited by Obi Wan Stevobi: 6/17/2014 4:38:21 PMDemographics. The GOP branded itself with Southern white conservatives because they were a majority of electoral points for a long time. In pandering to them, they alienated most former minorities. Democrats, on the other hand, took on civil rights as a platform issue. Now that those minorities are now becoming voting majorities, the GOP has a problem trying to win over populations they fought to keep segregated just a few decades ago. Now that they want to reach out and include minorities, their efforts are hampered because they run the risk of upsetting their Southern white constituency.

Well, aside from their entire ideology being hypocritical, because they claim to adore the teachings of Jesus but work against those teachings at every turn, they pretty often come off as racist homophobes Mostly because they are, generally, racist homophobes.

6 RepliesI'd say it's the extremists and their refusal to work with the other party. In the UK, the Tories and Labour rag on each other constantly in parliament but when it comes around to passing something important - It's not going to be sniped down because it was proposed by the other side. They reserve that for bills/acts that they oppose for a good reason, but even then it's not a constant messy stalemate. And they certainly don't throw a hissy fit and shut half the country down to spite them.

3 RepliesThe constant reinforcement of the false idea of a 'great schism' in the Republican party. Protesters and ralliers being labeled as extremists. Legitimate extremists being falsely labeled as leaders of the party. A sincere unwillingness of some older members to be progressive and abandon lost causes for the sake of other interests. Useless infighting among members that holds back decent candidates.
