If the argument for no split screen rests primarily on the open-world experience, I can understand that. If rendering two open-world environments is too taxing on the system, alright. But what about split screen co-op multiplayer (Crucible)? Enabling split screen in that game type doesn't seem hard since the maps are small and contained. Eric Osborne mentioned Guesting specifically, which makes sense: no investment in a character leads to not appreciating the game. But for 2+ people in the same room with online profiles it could make Destiny a viable game option, and allow players an opportunity to keep progressing their characters (level up, get upgrades, etc.) and stay invested in the game. Just a thought; a complete split screen experience would be awesome, but maybe something like that could get implemented more quickly.
Edit: clarified that by co-op multiplayer I mean the Crucible game type.
