Capitalism promotes competition. Competition promotes innovation. Innovation promotes new technology. Technology promotes a better way of life
Competition promotes innovation.
Apparently not.

What does that have to do with anything? Not to mention the happiest workers live in Western countries.
-
If worker's are not engaged then why would innovation increase?
-
If they were content why would they endeavour to better their lot? Besides, why are you assuming the engagement of work is directly-related to problems of capitalism?
If they were content why would they endeavour to better their lot?
That's a good question. Don't really know what it has to do with my post, but yeah.
Besides, why are you assuming the engagement of work is directly-related to problems of capitalism?
I'm not. Highlight my post where I said that.

Assuming that disengaged workers results in stagnated innovation is bad practice, especially since there's no evidence that capitalism is the cause of disengagement.
I'm not. Highlight my post where I said that.
It's quite clear that is what you mean. When you post an article about worker disengagement supposedly challenging the idea that capitalism is innovative, the implication is that capitalism causes worker disengagement. Otherwise, you wouldn't have posted it.
According to the Hawthorne Effect worker's motivation increases when they feel like an important component/contributory factor towards the work they do. Considering the majority of capitalist jobs are essentially just revenue/profit generating via menial tasks, it really isn't surprising to see such a substantially low engagement figure.
