  • Cars are art that vary dramatically in a plethora of ways. The locations that are often traversed are filled with rich history and beauty. Racing games are the closest thing to being able to experience such magnificent vehicles and the ride that they offer. Racing provides competition in a natural way that is simple yet satisfying and extremely competitive. Coming in first place is a constant goal, and the only thing that separates you from that goal is your skill as a driver. This is a basic fundamental to having a great game. A challenge that is always there, as opposed to many other games where the notion of being the absolute best is not the constant goal. Even though it may seem as though this can be evident in just about any free for all, it is very different in a game with cars. I'm actually surprised more people don't have more respect for driving games. Especially considering how well they fare in the gaming world. Gran Turismo 5 was the highest selling PS3 exclusive of all time, and Mario Kart 8, even though I consider it a shitty racing game, has put the Wii U on the map this year. It must be the vocal minority, because I do see many people roll their eyes whenever driving games are brought up.
