As long as they go for that classic Doom feel and not the survival horror stuff of Doom 3, I'm game. I want more run and gun versus hordes of bad guys in weird environments.

I agree, if I wanted to play survival horror I would play resident evil lol I want to frag army's of demonic zombies and Imps etc ;)

>Resident evil >survival horror pick one and only one post 4, they're all heaping piles of shit and 4 was only good with the complete version that included the japanese extra missions that filled in plot gaps. Doom 3 was actually good despite not being a true sequel. it took Doom which was an FPS with a somewaht shalllow story that you had to find all the secret lairs to understand and gave it modernizeed grafics, a deepened story, nicer weapons, a more advanced AI.. it took doom and made everything better and modernized the franchise.

I hate Resident Evil, just saying Doom 3 was more a hybrid survival horror/ FPS than akin to the original pure FPS Doom games.

actually i think it's a different perspective. it's what doom has to be in order to be 3d instead of 16 bit 2d. in the original doom everything is flat and not very detailed. it's essentially the same but in a "3d" world instead of "2d" in D3.

Not really, I agree it keeps the essence somewhat but apart from a few levels in Doom 3 you are scrambling around looking for something to shoot while switching between your torchlight and gun, Resurrection sorted this out I know as you had a light on the gun. I have played all the Doom titles and I do not hate Doom 3, apart from the enemies types and some nostalgic Easter eggs you cannot really say it Is a true sequel. Doom 1&2 were all about face paced non stop action racing around fragging demons and zombies, not having a second to think. Not plundering around in the dark waiting, hoping to see something. Before you ask I only play Doom on Nightmare or Ultra-violence.

of course it isn't a true sequel, it was a rebootquel. that means combination of semi-sequel and reboot.

Your passion for Doom is impressive, though I disagree with some of what you say. Like me I am sure you cannot wait for Doom 4. I think we will have to agree to disagree on the matter of is it a true sequel a rebootequel or whatever. Either way I look forward to playing it, see you on-line bro ;)
