No, it would be awful. People would have no incentive to do good, and the line between right and wrong would become very blurred. Depression would run rampant in a world where EVERYBODY believes that they're just some cosmic accident, and hundreds of thousands of suicides would follow. Governments would become tyrannical, because they have no God to answer to. THEY would become the highest power, and could do whatever they want without repercussions. After all, there would be no God to judge and punish them for whatever they've done. Every country would have it's own Adolf Hitler to run it. There would be no true reason for ANYBODY to do good, because no matter what you do, you die after 80 years (If you're lucky) and everything you did will be forgotten after 20 years. So, it would be far smarter to soak up all the pleasure and fun you can within that small window of time. Why do charity and service when you could find pleasure with alcohol, food, and sex? Humanity's main goal would be to have as much fun as possible before you die, no matter the consequences. Once you die, the world you leave behind will be the problem of somebody else, and they can deal with it. It would become a very dark world; one I would never want to live in.

  • You said every country would have its own Hitler to run it, but Hitler was Christian. So there goes your entire argument. Do you really think most world leaders believe in a god or gods? Pretty sure Cameron isn't religious and he's no Hitler. Put your tinfoil hat back on and stop making a scene.

  • Hitler was NOT Christian. He used his family's connections in the church to gain power. He was an occultist if anything.

  • Meh. Still, it's a terrible, terrible argument and you should really feel quite the fool for even suggesting it.

  • What the -blam!-ing shit? Are you just retarded? No country makes it's decisions based in God. So where are all these tyrannical warlords ruling? No incentive to do good? How does jail and imprisonment for the rest of your life or even the death sentence sound? You know the same sort of thing the criminal justice systems of the world have in place? Or does religion run those? Depressions would be rampant? Why? Because you think you are a special little unicorn that deserves to be remembered? Off the top of your head name the someone who died in a traffic accident yesterday... I bet you can't... That person is dead and their death has has no impact on the world. Most likely you will be completely forgotten about well before 20 years has passed. We have religion currently in the world. And currently religion is KILLING a lot of people. Religion has KILLED a lot of people. We don't need it. We never have. If you need to be threatened by an empty book and told that if you are good/bad something good/bad happens to you in the end then you live a sad, weak existence. This is why I hate religious people. Because they think religion holds the world together, when in fact religion only helps tear it apart and creates stupid, blind people.

  • I am anything but provoked. I am just shocked at how retarded some people are thinking that religion is the only thing holding the world together and stopping people from doing bad shit. It's laughable at how stupid those people are. You included.

    >this is why I hate religious people Irony. To say that religion doesn't provide morality and yet you lack any morals. And people are killing and using religion as an excuse. They would be killing anyways for a different cause.

  • I don't think people would just be like what you described. Charity would still exist. People don't just stop caring about eachother if religions didn't exist. I am not a fully religious person and I am very helpful and care about others. And people already have their fun with alcohol, food and sex. We have many obese, alcoholics and over population even with religion. xD And even with no God people could still have rules to be nice and punish if they do bad things.

  • Yes, they would be. I was a very evil person before I became a Christian. I would go out of my way to make somebody miserable. I would laugh when somebody's life started falling apart. I was cold and calculating, hateful, violent, and vengeful. If you did so much as look at me in the wrong way, I would make your life a living hell. Even if only a quarter of Earth's population was like that in a world without religion, then Earth would become a evil and vile place, full of depression and hatred.
And even with no God people could still have rules to be nice and punish if they do bad things.
Where would these rules come from? All of the basic laws Europe and America have came from Christianity. In order to have a world without religion, you would have to eliminate everything even SLIGHTLY related to it, so as to make sure it didn't sprout up again. You would have to abolish many of the laws and charities that exist in the world. Say what you will about religions, but some of them actually do a lot of good. I know a lot of people who work in places like Russia and South America, fighting problems like child prostitution, poverty, and drug abuse. If you were to abolish religion, all of the good people like them do would be wiped out.
