Listen, I love Halo. Master Chief is probably my favorite video game character. I love Halo's story. But it really annoys me when people compare Destiny to Halo. Yes, Destiny is a futuristic FPS, but destiny is an open world online game. My friends still say it'll be just like halo, but personally I think it will be a futuristic open world, MMO type game. I have faith Destiny will be a new, original, fun experience, with nostalgia as well. Destiny will be a new and innovative game but with a somewhat familiar feel. Tell me in the comments if you've had similar experiences with friends saying Destiny is like Halo, or if you disagree with me. Thanks Guardians!

Mine is arbiter or Dutch from odst love that game

Bungie really likes to make games with big strange objects either on top or around the earth.

3 Repliesdestiny is goin to b lik halo its the futur and their is armor and futur wepons like halo and aleins too

1 ReplyHonestly I could see a resemblance to the previous Halo games, definitely looks like they're using the same IP with it's own tweaks in it. But I do think Destiny stands out as it's own game. I love it.

1 ReplyI don't get the borderlands references. I don't like either of them, but destiny I think is amazing. I couldn't help but feel bored the entire time playing 1&2, and I didn't like how any of the weapons felt, but Destiny felt like the complete opposite of that.

1 ReplyDon't forget, it's gonna be just like little mermaid, they both have water. And call of duty, they both have ADS. And borderlands, there's coop gameplay. And mass effect, there's super powers. And any other shooter, they have guns. Yeah it annoys me when people say destiny is unoriginal or whatever. I say develop your own game that's more original then you have the right to say what you want about its originality

4 RepliesAccording to the E3 players and the actual creators that's what Destiny is suppose to feel like. Just better.
-
3 RepliesI say its like Halo, Skyrim and Borderlands. Best. Game. EVER.
-
Your completely right!
I think in a way it's kinda similar in the sci fi thing.
-
It doesn't annoy me much, people are entitled to there opinion, but I say at least play the game first and give it a try before criticizing it.
-
It plays exactly like Halo. Everything else will be quite different from the original trilogy. However, you can definitely notice the influence from Halo: Reach. Almost as if they were trying out certain gameplay concepts, like Big Team Battle, custom characters in campaign cutscenes, and seamless "fire-team" (A.K.A. "Party") creation.* I'm glad it's something new, that the development team can take us somewhere Halo couldn't. But to deny it plays like Halo is just madness, if you ask me. *This is the one I find most interesting. Anyone else remember how flawless the party system was in Halo: Reach While playing the Alpha, in "orbit", joining a fireteam felt almost exactly like joining a party in Halo: Reach. The more you think about it, the more it makes sense.

Edited by Spinalrocket3: 6/19/2014 1:38:25 AMListen, it's not that I'm saying Destiny will be nothing like Halo, it's that it isn't a Halo clone. The gameplay mechanics and overall feel will be Bungie, and therefore, Halo, Destiny itself will be a new but nostalgic experience with something for almost every type of gamer.
-
Also it's kinda made by Bungie so there is obviously going to be resemblance. Much like how artists have a style of their own.
-
Saying that destiny is like halo isnt at all a bad thing. I mean we are comparing destiny to xbox's killer app. Long live halo! Long live destiny!
-
My brother n law had never heard of the Destiny. He stopped by last weekend to say hi and I was playing the Alpha. The first words outta his mouth was "oh it's like halo". So it definitely has those characteristics.
-
2 RepliesPersonally my friends look at the game and say it is just a halo clone but I have to tell them (in order to get them interested) that the game has triple the open world of skyrim has more enemies and variation as well as greater weapons than boarderlands and has a greater story line than halo ( I know some of those is stretching the limit but it works and they check it out for themselves, so I guess I did my job).

Edited by LEE-MKD: 6/18/2014 6:04:15 AMA lot of people say the game is like HALO or BORDERLANDS or MASS EFFECT. The game has a lot of elements of all the games, but it is it's OWN game in it's every right that it NEEDS to be. DESTINY will be awesome. I just know it. It's got 10 years and $500 million riding on it's victory over our GUARDIAN HEARTS.

The gameplay feels alot like halo. So I don't see why is surprising. Thats what bungie is famous for anyways. Halos awesome combat gameplay. Why change what is already amazing. Just a few tweaks to make it next gen
-
No...
-
Bungie's Halo? Not at all. My favorite games. 343 Halo? Who said that!?! I will choke that bitch!
-
3 RepliesI'll take it as a complement. Halo changed the landscape for console shooters. Then when Halo 2 came out which practically launched live into the strateersphere. If I made a game and people where saying it's just like Halo ill be honored.
-
Very.

1 ReplyIt's the world we live in. Everything gets compared to something. Destiny will be a great game that will stand on it's own. Does it take popular pieces from games that made great decisions over the last decade? Sure, but it builds upon that.
-
I reckon PvP felt like Halo and that's awesome (love it) but exploring like borderlands mate
-
Yeah i agree i hate when people say oh its just like halo and borderlands well no duh the controls may feel like halo because its a bungie game they dont go and fire everyone so they can hire a new development and design team
