Listen, I love Halo. Master Chief is probably my favorite video game character. I love Halo's story. But it really annoys me when people compare Destiny to Halo. Yes, Destiny is a futuristic FPS, but destiny is an open world online game. My friends still say it'll be just like halo, but personally I think it will be a futuristic open world, MMO type game. I have faith Destiny will be a new, original, fun experience, with nostalgia as well. Destiny will be a new and innovative game but with a somewhat familiar feel. Tell me in the comments if you've had similar experiences with friends saying Destiny is like Halo, or if you disagree with me. Thanks Guardians!

Played the alpha and it has a somewhat familiar feel, but it is completely different

If to many words scare you into actually using your brain, skip this reply right now
Destiny isn't halo. What I would say.... Is if I never heard of Destiny, didn't know bungie made it...and someone came over and popped the disk in and I started playing it. ..... I'd get a nostalgic feeling...a sense of familiarity....I might even say it reminds me a little of halo..but only because I'm playing a video game...I'm trying to figure out why it's familiar.....then bam..I'd ask....is this a bungie game? And that's magical my friend. Its like recognizing a picture from your favorite artist when you've never seen the picture before...but you know that artist made it. You aim and shoot a lot...it isn't surprising that it feels smooth like it did in their halo games. Cause hey....bungie makes pretty damn good shooters that gave some pretty damn good experiences . Don't get bent out of shape over that, although you will spend A LOT of time shooting...there's more to Destiny . It isn't halo. It won't be halo. Supers aren't abilities 5.0,.. But yes, it reminds me of BUNGIE....halo just happened to be made by bungie...which now it's in 343s hands. So when you hear halo being compared to Destiny, just try to keep that in mind. Do I think it's a fps? A mmo? I hear 2 stupid arguments over and over here. "Welp those fps players are in for a surprise, because Destiny is a mmo, no more running around shooting mindlessly like in halo anymore" Yea sure...because we all no that's how a good player plays right? Just run and shoot and win tournaments without a strategy..and yea sure...let stats and gear win matches for you, you don't even need to learn how to aim and shoot. "Welp I feel bad for the mmo guys because us elite fps halo veterans are going to destroy them. They're in for a surprise cause Destiny is gonna be just like halo" Yea Right, if you think you can just stroll up in a PvP match without doing your homework, you're head shots will end up feeling like paint balls while that titan slowly walks up to you and melees you as if you were a fly bothering him. I got news for both parties. You're both in for a surprise. Fact is, you're going to need both aspects of gaming experience to be a decent player. So please, instead of saying stupid stuff like that help each other out and understand how to be a good well rounded player. You're going to need to understand mmo and rpg elements, and you're going to need to understand how to shoot obviously...which isn't the easiest thing to be good at. That's my 2 cents. Hope some people can relate to this.
If you made it to the end, congratulations. You don't have an attention disorder. Wanna complain about it being so long? Why did you bother reading it then?
8 RepliesHopefully, density becomes a COD clone.

Titanfall was just cod with mechs and it failed... Destiny is nothing like halo... I didn't like halo much.
-
3 RepliesIf I was going to compare Destiny to anything it would be Mass Effect.
-
1 ReplyMy friends also say it but obviously they haven't seen any gameplay or videos from more console realy I don't care what they think about it as long as I know what the game is about, it's their opinion not mine!!!
-
I think its worse when they compare it to Borderlands. At least Halo was fun, and did things to help advance the FPS genre.
-
Extremely
-
1 ReplyThat doesn't annoy me because I can accept that Bungie designed both games and that it is bound that SOME things might be similar in Desitny, what bothers me is when people compare this to "Boarderlands with better graphics" lol.
-
I've heard Destiny plays like Destiny. Made me happy to hear. :)
-
10 RepliesI have a feeling that Destiny will be better than Halo.
-
You know what, Destiny is like Halo lol XD I haven't played borderlands so I won't know if it is like that game.
-
You know what...... If destiny is just a much better halo then I'll be happy
-
When I say this I only mean it will be like Halo in terms of the game-feel and some features. Destiny is clearly it's own game, but gone above and beyond.

Yep i agree
-
I've made the comparison because I heard the gameplay, the feel of the game, reminds of Halo. Maybe most people that made the comparison are talking about the feel and not the story and what not.
-
Very...
-
I agree, they also directly compared to borderlands as well.
-
3 RepliesYeah my friends keeping saying it's overhyped and is going to be a halo rip off and then ask how is it original
-
2 RepliesHalo wasn't as MMOy as Deatiny will be or OpenWorld so you are right! but we all have to admit Bungie isn't abandoning their style of sci-fi with Destiny. But why would they?

It's like Halo and it's not like Halo. It looks like it and feels like it with the way the ships come in on a surprise raid event, the enemies scattered about maps and somewhat with the graphics. Watching the mulitiplayer Crucible match at IGN, Halo match came instantly to mind. I saw little difference between Halo or this game beside a little less bunny hopping. So far it different as there is really no story yet and will have to see how that works out in the beta. You just sort of run around and shoot everything after doing the story's mission. The MMO feel only appears to be the Tower, maps feel pretty void of other players and I suspect will continue to feel so due to the large size of the maps and the number of players that can be in a map (small number as the game is not an MMO). So maybe 16 to 20 players in a large map? Sort of like the older Battlefield Conquest maps when they had 33 players on huge maps and maybe you'd see 1 other person at an object. Destiny maps are much larger. I suspect you will need to hook up with others in the Tower if you expect to have help on a mission as I think odds won't be good for running into someone on a map. So I see lots of similarities to Halo in looks and multiplayer matches. The story/co-op side I expect to be different from Halo though you can help but feel similarities to how portions of the game work in this area. Hey, it is being made by Bungie. :-)

1 ReplyI never liked halo but looks more like mass effect cross world of war craft
-
4 RepliesTo me it feels like a cross between mass effect and tabula rasa... How many of you reading this even know what tabula rasa is?

Mine is arbiter or Dutch from odst love that game
