Wait for Asus to start releasing the VG248QE w/ G-Sync inbuilt. If you buy a monitor right now you're going to severely regret it once G-Sync starts rolling out.

Yes. That is what you need. So it's available in the US? Lucky bastard. Still waiting until it comes to Australia. Here's what G-Sync does and why everyone's going crazy about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PJjhBUSuHk

  • Okay... Well if i were you i'd wait. G-Sync isn't something you want to miss out on if you're looking to buy a monitor. But whatever. Up to you.

  • That monitor is 144Hz. And just remember, if you decide to buy a monitor with a high resolution AND a high refresh rate, you'll only be able to take advantage of one of them (assuming you're playing demanding games). Don't expect to run any demanding upcoming titles above 60 FPS if you're resolution is higher than 1440p.

And my resolution will be 1440, not higher.

Just thought I would try and help. Backfired. Good luck anyway.

  • I'm saying I won't be running something higher than 60 FPS. I wil be running 60 FPS, but nothing higher. I will be running 1440p, but nothing higher. I will be running 144Hz, but nothing higher.

  • Not sure why you would buy a 144Hz monitor if you only want to run the games at 60 FPS. But okay, suit yourself.

  • Okay, hold up. I'm probably going to buy this: http://overlordcomputer.com/collections/nvidia-gsync/products/asus-vg248qe-g-sync it's only 1080p, but whatever.

  • Dude, if you want a higher res monitor then go for it. And 144 Hz is good for if you want to play at 60-144 FPS. If you think you can run at 1440p and 60-144Hz, then by all means, go for it. Just depends on what you're playing. I'm not forcing you to buy anything. Just giving advice.

  • I'm extremely inexperienced when it comes to this sort of thing, so I value everyone's advise. I'm trying to decide if I should go 1080p 144Hz with G-Sync, 1440p at 60Hz without G-Sync, or 1080p 144Hz without G-Sync?

Really depends on whether you think G-Sync is worth it. And that's very subjective. If it was me, my reference would be: - 1080p 144Hz G-Sync > 1440p 60Hz > 1080p 144Hz. 1440p will make games look significantly better. By the way, if you decide to not go with G-Sync, grab a 1440p IPS monitor. IPS monitors (more expensive) have MUCH better colour accuracy. So the visuals are simply beautiful. Most gaming monitors aren't IPS (they're TN, which offers lower latency). But I swear, nothing compares to the quality of an IPS monitor. Most people prefer them for gaming just because of that. 1440p Ultra Widescreen monitors (32 inch) are also becoming extremely popular. They look freaking amazing. I'd honestly take one over G-Sync any day, but they're so expensive. I

  • I'm probably going to go with G-Sync, then. I like having a small monitor, and in a few years, IPS might be cheaper. G-sync. It says that it only works via DisplayPort, is that true?
