In Sweden this might work, what with their insanely good internet. In the USA or the UK? Lolno. The power of the cloud is going to be a flop because of the lack of compatible infrastructure - that is assuming it's not just a load of horseshit in the first place.

  • As I said, the theory is sound. The servers that can do this exist ( but currently only China has data centers large enough to cope with the load which will be beyond immense). The programming and software exists. What doesnt? Infestructire. On almost all fronts, US and even parts of europe and Asia are still using 30 to 40 year old networks. For example, the US power distribution system relies 90% of the time on above ground, exposed lines that are unprotected and vulnerable. The road system especially in large urban areas is atrocious. And internet? Lololol Go and lookup cell coverage for the states from any company. That would give you a good idea. Only about 60% of the US mainland has access to cell phone service and its as worse for internet. Especially with companies like Comcast gridlocking whole states and then offering sub par service. Also theres government. The FCC is trying to destroy net neutrality ( allows a fair and open internet) by adding in fast lanes. This will allow ISP's to lower overall speeds and make it so the highest bidder gets the best signal quality. For example. After the changes, Netflix wants their service to be what it was before. They will have to pay who knows how much to have the right to stream at a reasonable pace.

  • If they keep going with their anti net neutrality approach they're going to be taken to the Supreme Court. Plenty of Harvard tier lawyers have come out and explained why this goes against the first amendment.

  • It will and because the fcc board already approved the motion, its headed in that direction FAST But what is sad? That they are willing to try this bull shit in the first place

  • I find it funny how things like the FCC were created to protect us from dumbass companies like the current ISPs but instead they're helping them. I wonder if they realize things like Amazon, Facebook, Netflix would have never existed if their "fast lane" bullshit was in place...

  • And dont forget it would completely destroy the economy. New businesses would be crippled and monopolies formed again
