Don't get me wrong they take care of you if you are hurt there are laws that no matter what happens to you, you are top priority. The thing is really depends on what part of the country you are. In more of the rural parts of the Mexico you could wait up to 1 to 3 hours for an ambulance. If you are rich or someone of high regard they will send a helicopter for you but most of the time there is no rush.
Some of the doctors just don't care to the point that they will do their job but they wont waste the resources. Also the roads in some part of Mexico almost look like they are made to kill you.
I know you doubt me, I would too. You are right when you say that its not even close. I cant speak for most of Mexico but I can speak for where my family comes from and what Ive seen.
