Well thank god they've managed to maintain a race car look. If I had a bone to pick with Nolan trilogy it would probably be the design of the Batmobile. I don't like the idea of Batman rampaging across Gotham in a tank just because of muh grimdark realism.

The Tumbler was not supposed to be the Batmobile, it was an entirely different vehicle entirely.
-
So where was the Batmobile in the Nolan trilogy? I guess the flying vehicle in TDKR wasn't the Batwing either?
-
Nonexistent?
-
Eh idk about that. I think it's safe to say the tumbler was at the very least a constitution for the Batmobile. You can't have a Batman film without the integral components that make him, well, Batman.
-
Yeah but it was still a different vehicle.
-
He had a different batsuit too, but that doesn't automatically invalidate it as the batsuit.
-
No, because it wasn't named something else.
-
Edited by Madman Mordo: 5/12/2014 6:37:27 PMIt wasn't called the Batsuit in the films either... Look, just because they weren't being scrupulous enough for you doesn't automatically disregard everything Batman is in the film iteration. He didn't call his batarangs "Batarangs" in the movies but that doesn't make them "not Batarangs".
-
You're confused. I'm saying that the Tumbler and Batmobile are two entirely different vehicles.
-
Yeah, it really looks like something out of Jak X: Combat Racing. I'm hoping we get a clearer shot tomorrow (as well as a nice wallpaper, to boot.) Nolan's isn't bad. The objective of his trilogy was to make a realistic, dark Batman, and he nailed it. I'm sure Snyder's vision will be drastically different.
-
Edited by Madman Mordo: 5/12/2014 5:29:37 PMNever said he was bad, I just didn't like his approach to the Batmobile, or even the Batsuit. He nailed all the realistic dark elements, but IMO, I don't think he fully encapsulated the look or feel of Batman at all really.
-
Not even the batsuit? I liked the batsuit, both the begins and the TDK(R) versions.
-
It just...doesn't look too Batman-ish. IMO they need a perfect blend of grey and black. Plus they went full out on the kevlar fetish. The Arkham games nailed the look, especially Origins. If Snyder can carry that over to the big screen, then I'd be more than happy.
-
Honestly, I'd just like the New 52 Batman, I think that looks really good.
-
Exactly. Perfect blend of grey and black and no ridiculous pointy ears. It's the antithesis of Nolan's suit.
-
Shrink the batlogo a bit, and it's Perfect. Out of curiosity, what did you think of the Superman suit in MoS?
-
Edited by Madman Mordo: 5/12/2014 6:31:41 PMI liked the chain mail concept, and I loved how they got rid of the ridiculous "pants on the outside" look that he's always been chastised for. The colour was a bit dull though. I understand they were trying to pull of a modern grimdark look to emulate Nolan, but I don't think it's respectful to a character who's meant to instill hope. All they needed to do was make it more vibrant, and it'd be the perfect suit.
-
All they needed to do was make it more vibrant, and it'd be the perfect suit.
Something like this, right?
-
Pretty much.
-
I heard a rumour that they were going to make Cavill look more like Superman from Kingdom Come. I'm really not too sure how I feel about that...
-
Edited by Madman Mordo: 5/12/2014 6:44:27 PMEhhh I suppose I would be okay with that. Perhaps they're entertaining the idea of a broken run down Superman?
-
Maybe. Perhaps they'll play the "destroyed metropolis+killed a bunch of people+destroyed his only kin" sort of plot. Might work. I'm just not sure how they could pull of that look on Cavill.
-
I couldn't agree more. I've always said that The Dark Knight is one of the greatest movies of all time, but it's an okay Comic Book movie. It doesn't encapsulate "Batman" at all. It actually makes him seem rather average minded.
