I have loved all the Halo games for a long time now & my son has held an Xbox controller since he was born. He is nearly five & he asks to play Halo 3 on Legendary with me all the time. I am really, really excited for Destiny as I think it is going to be one of the best games ever made, but one thing still concerns me.... Will me & my son be able to play together split-screen..? I really want to be able to bond with him & share this wonderful experience together, but I just don't have the money to pay for two PS4's & two copies of the game. We both have PS+ so we can both get online, but we both cling to the hope that you can offer us split-screen co-op. I will be purchasing the game regardless, but without it, me & my son may have to play other games together or go back to Halo 3. So, please please please may we be blessed with split-screen so me & my son may share in that wonderful Bungie created masterpiece together.

I'm guessing your not very familiar with mmos.No there will not be splitscreen co-op.Destiny is not a fps in the sense of halo,COD or BF.It's a mmofpsrpg.Hate to break it to you but your gonna have to have two consoles and two copies of the game.

Actually I have played a few MMO's. I also recognize the similarities between Destiny & MMO's. I know Bungie have managed to pull off online gaming before while some players in the game have guests signed in on splitscreen. If you can do it in a 16 player online game, why not in Destiny during campaign or strike. I can imagine the complications with patrol, but strikes are supposed to be instances locked away from the general mass population. Also, one thing I always like to have hope in when new games are created is this: Just because something has never been done before, doesn't mean it will forever be unobtainable. Otherwise we wouldn't have planes and people probably wouldn't have computers in which to play games. I understand that it is unlikely, but until Bungie confirms that splitscreen isn't going to be a thing. No one can say with certainty that there will not be splitscreen.

Destiny is a mmo so there won't be splitscreen. It can't be done on a mmo trust me, I used to work at dev studio that wanted to try splitscreen on a mmo.It can't be done, definitely not with gaming consoles. And for anyone wondering no the mmo I worked on never saw the light of day, because the studio went belly up.

"It can't be done on a mmo trust me" Ever..? So we will never ever be able to make an MMO splitscreen? I wonder if in 50 or more years time if you are still right. Just because you used to work at a dev studio doesn't mean you have the absolute authority on this. Just because you failed to find a way, doesn't make it impossible. Imagine if Sony decided it was impossible to find a way to store more information on a disc. But they didn't, they changed the disc and the laser & now Sony use blue-ray. Could you imagine if instead of disks, we were still using cartridges. The probability of Destiny having splitscreen is low. Even if it could be done, the company stands to make more money if everyone has to buy extra copies of the game. But how awesome would it be if Bungie were the 1st to find a way. Maybe they won't. But one day someone will find a way.

Edited by Darknal: 5/6/2014 8:27:21 AMI wouldn't be so sure if they didn't have it, have hope. I am like you in many ways. I am an old school Halo gamer. I have a son who plays Halo, for the reasons you state above. It's a bit like ben 10. Robots vs Aliens as I see it. There are some language issues in the campaign but depends on their frequency. Anyway, I wouldn't put it past them to at least support split screen in competitive multiiplayer. Their fan base has always demanded some local multiplayer game modes so it's still possible. Maybe the free roaming campaign will not but be sure, Bungie have always offered local split screen, it would be a shame if this was a feature they removed. They may do, but it's likely it will be included in some modes.

Edited by Sir Terrance: 5/6/2014 7:40:34 AMI live in the UK. Halo 3 is one of my favourite games & from what I recall there is no nudity, gore, or offensive language & the violence isn't much different from many of the kids cartoons on TV that I grew up with. I loved Transformers, He-Man, Thundercats, Bucky O'Hare, Mighty Max, TMNT, etc. (Quote by Skullmaster in the 1st episode of Mighty Max "I'll rip the limbs from your body & slowly suck the marrow from your bones". I grew up with these cartoons & so did most of the children I know who were born in the 80's or 90's). I let him play because I see nothing wrong with the game. It is fun & if you play the right modes, you can teach team work & leadership skills. FPS games are also a great way to improve people's hand eye co-ordination & reflexes. As for PS+, I own a PS4 & if my son wants to join me in online gaming with my friends, he has to have PS+, otherwise he has to sit out & watch. I like to include my son in my hobby as much as I can. I would rather play offline co-op with my son, than force him to just sit & watch me play online with strangers.

Unfortunately I suspect splitscreen is unlikely. But the sooner they provide confirmation, the better. If I do need to get a 2nd PS4 so my son can play Destiny with me. I am going to need to start saving right away, which means no more new games till September.

That reminds me of when i used to play legendary co-op with my older brother and uncle all the time on halo 1 and halo 2 when i was around that age , Also I doubt it will have spilt screen unfortunately, It's a real shame.

I think its amazing there is a 5 year old that can even PLAY Halo, let alone on Legendary. Unfortunately, it seems like split-screen is a dying breed, and it most likely wont even be included. Its a shame too, I remember getting together with friends and playing Halo 2 sooooo much. U never know

Dude thats pretty deep. And I have been wondering this myself. This is the proof you need. Every single in of was splitscreen multiplayer. I dont know if thats what you think but give me feedback
