Well 'science' is a methodology so obviously that can't lie. I interpreted the OPs use of science to mean the greater scientific world - are there instances when scientists mislead for selfish purposes - yes, of course. The man who released the autism study, Andrew Wakefield, had undeclared interests (i.e receiving £55k from a group involved in litigation with pharmaceutical companies), and therefore created a fraudulent study. He may not have used the scientific method, but he was still a Doctor who published in a scientific journal, which most would regard as 'science'
