I asked that exact question in a Bungie Mailsack way back when in reference to this section of the last weekly update of 2013:
Next year, Bungie promises:
• We’ll introduce you to the Director, and show you what will be on the menu in our brave new world.
This was DeeJ's response.
Hylebos Who is the Director?
The Director is not a who. It is a what. Think of it as a guide. Think of it as an oracle. It’s equal parts war plan and treasure map.
Presumably it's the Active Roster 2.0, a system which allows you to hook up with your friends and find activities to do in the world of Destiny. I'm very interested to see how it's implemented :)
Good find either way, I think that nicely clarifies Bungie's plan of information release for me.

I think it's how we get are missions

So if I'm understanding that right...
• We’ll introduce you to the Director, and show you what will be on the menu in our brave new world.

the menu
How do you hide a secret from the community? You stick it right under its pointy nose.

Do you remember when they were doing Humpdays on the unannounced Halo 3 Beta maps and they hid the map's names in the descriptions of each map? This is a classic Bungie move :)

Thanks for the links Hylebos! I had forgotten about that lol until Foxlyy reminded me. Glad you were able to get that question asked in the Mail Sack. I find it pretty amazing how it all starts coming together now. :)
