Always online requirement
WHY is MS/ubisoft/EA and other companies being CRUCIFIED for it and Bungie gets a free pass ESPECIALLY with the statement we can solo most of the game minus raids and the very endgame stuff?

It's a MMO. What do you think?
-
It's an MMO that's why online is required.
-
Only according to bungie is not and, still according to them, I can block everyone from my game so....WHY again does it need a connection? besides, you know, because someone said so?
-
You can't block people from your game. It's been stated that you can avoid online interaction by staying away from public areas.

Edited by crimzontearz: 4/24/2014 11:35:06 PMRight, so, if I do not have a fire team and steer clear from public areas I am DE FACTO blocking people out of my game. I am still waiting then for someone to explain to me EXACTLY what the internet connection is for besides having an online profile for the game which is absolutely not needed as it could be stored on the HDD.
-
from what i understand its because beside main store part every single other thing in the game has to do with other people pvp, raids, dungeons, fire teams and doing the main story by your self would most likely cripple the experience and if you really don't like all those other things then i have no idea why you would even want to play the game just read the story on wiki
-
Are you that thick? bungie specifically said you CAN play the game solo. That interaction with others is COMPLETELY optional so, as I can skip and steer clear of raids and pvp then why do I need a connection?. Either the connection does something for my single player game (which I would LOVE to know) OR I flat out do not need it and it is forced upon me for other reasons
-
its not like you don't have internet its not like your pc is most likely always plug in to the internet and the world dose not fall apart and you know unless the game bombs that they plan to keep this thing going for 10 year so why in gods green earth dose the game being always online matter? unless i'm speaking to a troll then i understand

THIS same argument was made in defense of the Xbox One before the 180. It did not hold then and it does not hold now. So far NO ONE was able to tell me why I need the connection. Furthermore, in November I am moving back to Italy, as it stands it might take me weeks before my ISP is set up, weeks in which my PS4 is working fine but I will NOT be able to play Destiny in spite of the fact I ALWAYS play solo. yeah, not fun
-
since you ALWAYS plays solo then playing a game thats meant to be played with other people might not be a good idea thats like getting mad about wow for having to always be online because it has a main story so i should be able to play it off line they give us a choice if i dont like the always online i dont have to play the game unlike what xbone was going to do and make every single game have it and not just the ones that it make sense to have it that way. its a choice i have internet and yes ill be mad when it goes but since my whole gaming system still works ill play a different game.

Are you you stupid or 10 years old? Let me quote bungie for you in this article http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/12/16/will-you-be-able-to-play-all-of-destiny-on-your-own absolutely are going to be able to play Destiny by yourself and have the same kind of fun shooter-experience that you could have in a single-player campaign, which is a word that we’ve weeded out of our vocabulary," he explained. I guess at some variable, distant endpoint we are going to say, ‘Yeah, if you show up at this door, and you don’t have five friends, you’re not going to be able to succeed.' "But we’re going to give you this great player-progression on top of that, and we’re going to give you as many opportunities as we possibly can to expose you to other people, so that hopefully you’re drawn into some social experiences, because those are incredibly powerful and interesting, but we’re not going to force those on you." “We describe it in a lot of ways as sloping the floor towards socialization, without putting a requirement on it,” he went on. “I would say that there’s some sort of – if you wanted to talk about it in MMO terms, you’d say ‘end-game activities’, but some of the most intense non-competitive activities in the game do require cooperation. They require a group of players to tackle at once." Raids, for example, will require additional players, but you will indeed be able to complete the campaign solo if you so choose. how many times did he state you can play solo and specified only certain things require co op UNLIKE AN MMO? so AGAIN, I ask WHY DO I NEED A CONNECTION? I want a practical reason, not a vague dodgy corporate line.
-
Good question maybe there are someplaces that have too strong of opponents that one player alone no matter how cunning or powerful, will not be able to survive for long
-
Yes and he says that but he says you can play the campaign ALL by yourself, so....again.....why the mandatory connection?
-
I guess the future we always dreamed of has some drawbacks
-
I never dreamed of this...TYVM

Your display name is an understatement. Quit being a pussy.
-
Stop being a sheep and start asking the questions Bungie seems unwilling to answer
-
Unwilling to you. I couldnt give a rats ass about it. bungie is my favorite developer I trust they will do what is necessary for this game to be just as or more so influential to the fps genre then halo:ce
-
In other words....you cannot answer thus you resort to an ipse dixit? REALLY? You ARE a sheep!
-
No I could care less if its always online or not your just being a titty baby about it go play borderlands and cry about your dilema because its not going to change and you wont get your answer.
-
Yep, a sheep following blindly also, learn to spell...or are you really 15 on top of being a sheep?
