The first is at the 44 minute mark, which basically asks what the actual player's involvement is in all of this customization: Go to next post: Scott: "The question was 'This is a really powerful system for us as content creators, how does that affect the players and how do they make use of it?' Right now, for the most part, it affects them in the fact that we can build a lot more content than we could otherwise. We can build a lot more armor sets, a lot more gear for them to choose from. Pushing forward, exploring the ideas of players making their own arrangements is something we've definitely thought about and I would personally love to explore, but it's a long ways out." We'll follow this up with another question asked in regards to players choosing color customization patterns: Question: Originally, a player could choose three colors for their character and then you guys changed the system to colorize the gear so it would represent the different scale of upgrades. Does that mean, in the current design, that there is no player color customization? Scott: So, uhh, no, we definitely established what we called 'default dyes' for things and the idea is that players will be able to customize their color choices later on. The follow up question was asked about something still in development. Finally, we'll wrap it up with this question comparing Borderlands 2's randomly dropped modular guns: Question: This system actually reminded me a lot of Borderlands 2's gun system, where they built completely modular guns and so each player who started up their game was able to have like their own unique sniper rifle. Would this system allow players to have completely unique randomized helmets [or other pieces of gear] or is everything built beforehand? Scott: The answer is no actually, and that was a very conscious decision on our part. We wanted artists to still maintain control of the overall design. We wanted to try and make it fast as possible for them to create something cool, but we didn't want it-- we always wanted it to feel to like it was a conscious decision that we put this piece with this piece. So, players actually creating their own gear is a long ways out. Does this change your perception on the game and what you want out of it at all? I assume some people had to think that they'd be able to create their own gear in a way, but it doesn't seem likely at the moment. Players will still have some sort of color options available to them, but to what extent is unknown. I thought it would be a little weird to have players to be able to create and customize their gear so heavily if there were always loot drops that you'd get within the game, so it's sounding like the customization options are really up to BUNGIE to create a ton of gear to create for all of us to gather.

  • I didn't think that we were going to be able to customize that extensively without it being very difficult to avoid glitches or bugs with hit boxes. However, this possibility of them creating exponential amounts of armor in just a few days leaves me excited with their being many types of end game armor. The one thing I don't want to see in destiny is having just one armor set collection for each individual raid especially with the individual loot system. If that were the case, everyone would have their armor complete within one run but with multiple types of sets available, it allows for more variety and longevity for end game content.

  • I agree, loot variety is going to be massive for this game to keep things from going stale in the loot hunt. Although, we don't know how many raids there are going to be in the game at launch, so it also depends on how much content is available for us to get loot from.

  • Something that I really liked is that they're letting the 3D artists still have complete control over the making of weapons/armor/etc. I was afraid they were going to have a randomized system, like Borderlands. This talk calmed those fears immensely haha.
