I misread the OP, but yes you can do that. You might be interested in reading up on the latest developments in scientific journals. Some publishers/databases off the top of my head you could look at are Elsevier, PLoS, Science Direct, and Google Scholar (not really a database in itself, but handy for finding things). You might want to check with your school if they have subscriptions which will give you access (some are behind paywalls). There's also nothing stopping you from contributing to them either.
Your role as a moderator enables you immediately ban this user from messaging (bypassing the report queue) if you select a punishment.
