B-b-b-but muh Spartans. On a serious note I would like to think the Spartan Program had some sort of impact on the war.

 • The War was primarily of naval conquest in which the spartans themselves said they were useless. Tactically The humans were superior as they had to make up for their lack of technology. Improvisation is key to battle. The covenant on the other hand didn't do anything besides Protoss/Zerg Rush. In which they still would have won.

 • To be fair, a group of Spartans did make a difference by delaying Earths invasion a few times. Grey Team and First Strike are some examples.

 • My CP knowledge is rusty so i am not sure what might Grey team have done to stall an invasion. Yeah. My statement was more Spartans aren't actively making a difference in naval engagements. I am not doubting the few times (Though i can only think of one) times where they stop an armada. But They are generally useless in a naval engagement.

 • Just to refresh your memory, The three events were( that I can recall may be more since Halos lore has expanded a lot.) 1. Grey Team prevented navigational data from being sold by insurrectionists to a Kig Yar "pirate" who turned out to be working with the Prophet of Regret and raising a grunt army without breeding restrictions. 2. Fall of Reach Station that had John, Linda and James go prevent the covenant from getting the data on station. 3. First Strike is self explanatory. Yeah I got what your saying earlier but the original guy was saying the Spartans had to have some impact on the war which they clearly did.

 • Ehhh, As i said the subject is more naval oriented. I wouldn't qualify them preventing the covenant from stealing nav data (which literally anyone could do) as something to merit them as highly relevant. The only thing i can think of are the missions in which S-IIIs were wrecking covenant factories. The issue with that is, we don't know how much of an impact was made on the covenant ship supply. Majority of the ships would have to have been made in their inner colonies or High Charity itself. Destroying Production planets on the outer colonies doesn't do much besides have them re-route forces.

 • A group of marines might have been able to do CP although they would have had some serious trouble against the grunt horde and Thel plus two of his elite soldiers. Plus Grey Team had some help from Odsts who took a decent amount of casualties with grey teams support. The reach scenario killed/incapacitated Linda and James plus almost killed Chief. It might have been done, but who knows? Also, how many times has the covenant ever tried to trap and kill human? I can't really think of anything atm besides the Headhunters. I'm assuming the Headhunters actually did something to really hurt the covenant that warranted a trap.
