I agree these men and women did something horrible and unforgivable but us doing the same makes us no better.

I used to believe that through grade school, taught even, until I understood cheap grace -- the teaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance. 'Doing the same makes us no better' 'We're just adding to the stats' is a fundamental fallacy that tears into the very soul that leads down the path that we should all eventually commit suicide or murder out of love. Murdering out of love is not justifiable. Therefore, if you murder somebody there's a good chance we'll murder you right back. Killing and murdering is not the same thing.
-
How I'm not saying your wrong but how.
-
To kill someone in self-defense or to execute someone for a capital offense is justifiable. Not all forms of killing represent murder.
-
Ok defense I understand but what makes execution justified because you want revenge.
-
I come to grips with someone more powerful than my hatred: Jesus Christ.
-
He spoke out against killing of any sort so shouldn't you be against execution?

It's not the same. - Der

Yes it is.

How so? - Der
-
Death is death.
-
How insightful. But what does it have to do with my question? - Der
-
It's not that difficult. Death is death, murder is murder, no matter the circumstances. There is no difference. It is the same.

I feel like I'm having the same argument over and over... I'll just post my reply from elsewhere...
Murder is -unlawful killing, with malice aforethought, of another human being. UNLAWFUL. In the U.S. system, you commit a death penalty eligible crime, get a trial and are found gulty you can legally be executed. Legally = NOT MURDER What part of this don't you understand?
It is different. In one instance an innocent person is dead, in the other a convicted murderer is dead. - Der

That's the law, but laws aren't always correct.

Edited by Der Todesengel: 2/23/2014 6:25:37 PMYes, but they are always the law. Get them changed and you will be correct instead of me. Should I infer from your non-answer than a murderer being executed is the same as an innocent child being murdered? - Der

Edited by Elrond Hubbard: 2/23/2014 6:30:37 PM
Get them changed and you will be correct instead of me.
This is not strictly a legal debate and you know it.
Should I infer from your non-answer than a murderer being executed is the same as an innocent child being murdered?
It was a valid answer, deal with it. And yes.
